It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

phaolo: Firefox is great, but Mozilla is slowly removing cool features and adding crappy ones.

Leonard03: Huh. I haven't been using it for that long. What would be some cool stuff they took out?
Less configurable UI, only signed addons, no more Tab Groups.
...Yikes.

Darvond: The best proposal I've seen is actually from Neogaf. Just take the M from the current Mozilla logo, and behold! Logo!

I think it could work and save Mozilla several thousand dollars.

Tyrrhia: Reading your post, I thought it would have been a basic "M" . . . but no, this is actually awesome! The man is a genius, indeed! I hope they'll see it, though I doubt they'd have the guts to take a suggestion on an Internet forum over professional work from a paid artist.
What, a software foundation solely dedicated to open source software choosing to take a paid logo over a free and open source one that already exists in their own logo?
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Putting aside the fact that they desperately need lessons in aesthetics, why are they even redesigning their logo? Are they so desperate to get rid of everything linking them to their (old) identity?
Something something Fellow Kids.

I have no bloody idea.

ashwald: ...Yikes.
Conclusively. Apparently these are the unrefined prototype logos that would then get reworked, but even as a base, most of them are awful.

While these logos are all horrendous, it is a bit sad that people have such low opinions of Firefox over Chrome/Chromium, both from a technical and philosophical standpoint. But that discussion is for another topic.

Well, I think they should consider "open" suggestions, especially considering their history and identity, but they also need to tell the guy they hired something like "Uh, sorry, but your designs sucked. We chose a free design, instead. Hope you don't take it the wrong way!"

About a month ago, I tried Firefox for about a week because Google's Material Design on computers was bothering me; it was not an entirely bad experience, but there were lots of minor annoyances compared to what I was used to, so I decided to switch back to Chrome. I took a look at other browsers and particularly at Opera, but I saw that they had been bought by another company, and that's kind of a no-go for me. I have now adapted to Material Design (except on the downloads page, why so BIG!) so unless something really cool and stable comes out, I'm probably still going to stick to Chrome.
It's actually impressive how they found a totally new way to be awful with each design.

Darvond: They're coders, not designers. If you want to design, most people use Webkit based browsers like Chrome. After all, Google are the ones who made the entire Material Design language. Mozilla has made no such thing and most of the products still look like they do when they came out in the 90s.
They are useless, above all, and they destroyed Firefox turning it into a Chrome clone. Something that cannot be forgiven, imo.

That's a pretty clever take, and it sure trumps all the ones on Mozilla's site.

Yeah, this thread is purely to make fun of logos. Let's keep our Richard Stallmans for another thread. :>

I'm really hoping the Mozilla team is aware of that idea.

I use Chrome as a daily driver; I'm not seeing how Firefox is anything close to a clone; but this isn't the place to debate that.

It's an impressive increasing scale of awful.

Right now I use both Firefox and Opera... I was a Firefox user just few days ago when they started to block any not signed plugin... then I discovered that they want to remove support for most of the plugins.

I started to configure Opera that day... I will not use Chrome because I hate it.

Right now I still use both because there is one problem... if you look at Opera plugins (you can use both Opera and Chrome plugins in Opera) and compare some of them with Firefox plugins they suck... just look at Download Helper... in Firefox it can download everything even flux videos... in Opera you need to use the chrome plugin (because there is not opera plugin), and it is still an old version that only download fragment for flux videos... also there is only one plugin that download 1080p videos from youtube FastestTube and you still need to download audio and video separate... and you need to mix by yourself (any firefox plugin can do that).
Also in Opera there is no download status bar (and no plugin to add it like in firefox).
And there is no Flashgot plugin.

Right now I know that the download helper plugin is made with the new api of firefox (so it will work in the future), I'm still not sure for plugins like download status bar.

Both Firefox and Opera right now are great for something and suck for something else so I decide to keep both of them.
I will not use an old version of firefox (I can tweak it, for the unsigned plugins for example... and I know that I can change the logo if I need)... But I also know that if firefox will suck for everything in the future I will need a good alternative.

Opera is a good browser... there are some bad things (because it use the same engine of chrome) but there are also good things (you can install any plugin, you just need to say ok the first time you try to install them).

I want to be free, that's why I use firefox, but right now firefox want to control me.

PS. by the way I think all their "new" logo suck.

Yep not liking any of the new logos, all for change as long as it's an improvement. Like/ love the current logo.

It sounds like you're confusing two things here. There are "plugins" (flash, java, silverlight, etc), which are a huge security risk, generally installed through websites belonging to big companies like adobe and microsioft, and support for which is being removed. Support for the same plugins is also being removed from Chrome and Opera.
And there are "add-ons"/"extensions" (download helper, adblock plus, greasemonkey, etc), which you generally install through addons.mozilla.org or directly through the Firefox Add-ons manager. These latter now require signing by the developers in order to prevent them from becoming a security risk (thish is a one-time hassle for add-on developers, but not that bad (excepting some philosophical differences which a very few developers have) - it sucks that you as a user are encountering issues because of it), and support for which will continue unabated. Mozilla will NOT remove support for add-ons from Firefox. No need to switch to Opera.

(Mozilla is also switching to a different API for add-ons to make life easier for them in the long run. Again that's also leading to some grumbling from add-on developers, but the sky will not be falling because of that, either.)

As a protip, Opera was sold to the Chinese. If you want the successor to Opera, look to using Vivaldi.
Vow this is some awful design that this guy made. Haven't seen something as bad as this for sometime.

Not "some guy". That was the work of an entire design group. For money.
