It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

So you probably know of Mozzila. They're the company that makes Firefox, Thunderbird, and several other things that are in dire need of a visual refresh.

So rather than take the UI of their products out of the 90s, they decided that the Godzilla inspired logo was now no longer with the times!

They hired Johnson Banks, and...it shows in a not so good way. I would get a refund.

But that's what I think. What do you think of the logo candidates?

Those logo ideas are just plain awful. Time to hire another firm for ideas.
What the...?!

If I knew that you can make money "designing" such awful stuff I would have kept all my old excercise books from school. Most of my doodles in those look better than this garbage.
Where do we see Mozilla logo anyway? I don't even remember their original logo
I get the idea that those design concepts based on, but seriously those all look ugly to me

Here is a picture of the current logo.

I had similar thoughts.

To be honest, the "With you from the start" group don't look bad. Flik Flak needs to be clearer, and I think that's it. None of these logos are utterly horrible though.
I think I saw some of those designs 30 years ago, during an acid trip.

Most of these do scream 80s-90s. In a bad way.

Absolutely, like a bad Bill Cosby sweater. =D

Ah, so thats it. Been a while since last time I saw it. I understand why they want to change it. But honestly if I am to pick between old logo and any new design, I would choose the old one. No contest there
I agree, they are all bad in different ways. From a purely abstract and artsy view (which I have no artistic talent) some of them look interesting. But none of them... feel right.

The Moz://a is perhaps the tamest of them, while the twisting MC Escher M looks the most brain bending.

The cards and squiggles that spell out Mozilla in a very.... unconvincing way, the eye and others just feel more like art for art's sake.
I've actually spent some time doing graphic design and I really love minimalism and vector art. That said I think all of these are awful. None of them are pleasing to the eye and I think some of them also have rather poor usage of color theory. If I were to pick one I'd have to say Protocol is my favorite seeing as Mozilla is not just a web browser but a developer of open-source software.

That said we should keep in mind that Mozilla's current logo isn't too hot either.

I'd like to see the portfolio of the company they paid, and then I'd like to look up a list of the customers (public companies and organizations) to see how many of them actually kept works from this place. Anecdotally, a collage got a logo makeover from the group, only to have recently given themselves a nice new, and more importantly, sensible logo.
So you're not kidding - they are indeed all awful :(
