The early access pre-purchase even includes a copy of Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven; this seems like an odd choice to me since Legacy itself is instead modelled on the gameplay of Might and Magic IV and V: World of Xeen. :)

Bad news: I cannot buy the Super-Duper Deluxe model. Good news: It only costs $29.95 USD off of Steam.
so the demo costs money?

You obviously get the full version once it's released.

Anyway I'm not personally going to buy it yet, I would grudgingly accept it on Steam if it was just Steam, but apparently you need UPlay too so screw that.
looking at the trailer it doesnt look as bad as MMIX however im not keen on the backwards step with the movement that games such as Grimrock reintroduced. I had hoped for the same kind of movement and open world as MMVI-MMVIII had

I think I will pretend that there wasnt a game after MMVIII

It uses Steamworks drm and Uplay.

Only on Steam. Uplay and retail versions only have Uplay DRM.

If you buy the Steam version and get double the DRM then that's your own fault. :)
Well, just hope it will be released here too.
It has to be here, but Ubisoft already acted quite... strange... in the past!
E.g. Assassins Creed I is here, but neither II, II.1, II.2 or III!

the game will be released next year, now it is in beta or something
This looks interesting. I might have to take a chance on this one.

Can anyone tell me how the Uplay DRM usually works? Is it really just a one-time activation (the game can run indefinitely on a computer that is not connected to the internet once the game is activated, compared to Steam where it needs to connect at least once every two weeks)? I'm sure I would need to be connected for authentication every install I wanted to do too. If it really is a one-time activation like I described, I still think that's dumb but it wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker for me.

Also, what would happen during this activation? Can I just install the game from the retail version and then activate the game with a mobile connection which would use very little data? I don't want to get a message that the activation servers are busy so they're going to automatically start downloading 10 GB (or however big the game is) from the digital store for me instead. I don't want it to start automatically downloading a bunch of big patches that I may or may not want before I can play either.

This is why I prefer to buy games on gog.com. I don't have to try to research all of this beforehand. I'm confident when I purchase here.

Okay, thanks. I wouldn't get it until it's finished because that's just the way I am. Even Kickstarter projects I've backed I'm not interested in playing the beta version. Just waiting for the finished, mastered versions to come out.

I'm more interested in what is going to happen with the DRM if I buy it. I definitely won't get it from Steam because there are things about Steam that make it a deal breaker for me, not to mention there would then be two forms of DRM with the game. I'm not very familiar with Uplay though. If it really is a true one-time activation I could probably live with that for the right price.

I couldn't buy the Deluxe version, it's not available in the states. However, I stand corrected.
And for some reason, it's regionally restricted on Steam. But that's not enough. It also has to be advertised as available to us. Love you too Valve.
