I've been keeping an eye on this thread since i joined in December and I have to say I feel like a fossil. I was born and raised on metal but I have to be honest, most of this stuff is alien to me. I keep waiting for someone to start a thread about what was better "Number of the Beast" or "Piece of Mind" so atleast I could provide some input. :D I'm not complaining mind you, I just feel old and I still can't picture "old" and "metal head" as refering to the same person.

I am 20 years old and I like the old school metal (Mostly Thrash Metal) more than this "Alien" stuff.

You want classic metal here is one

Now that is what I'm talking about. No offense to the new stuff, seriously, but give me Rainbow and I'm a happy guy.
Looking forward to Megadeth's Super Collider. Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson are like Yin and yang. One can be asshole at time and lacking some sort of sensitivity, but a talented musician, composer, lyricist and guitarist. A heavy metal virtuoso that any musician could only imagine to be. While another one is very down to earth human being, never had a bad press, massive spotlight, but also very talented musician.
Yeah, Dio is pretty much the essence of metal for me with older bands like Maiden, Judas and other stuff that nowadays would be considered Rock.

Can't stand the new wave lead by Nordic bands and all the hybrid stuff.

I just saw the Megadeth Behind the Music a few weeks ago and as a fan I knew they had their problems but man I had no clue it was that bad. Ultimatly as long as they are still around making the music they make I'm cool.
Can't imagine anyone else liking this but I've been really addicted to this album

Glitchy Death Metal with Drum and Bass and Free Jazz
Seems like a good thread to remind everyone that Brutal Legend is on PC now!

Yeah, I've seen some younger fans put forth that idea and it just doesn't compute to me. Black Sabbath and Judas Priest literally defined heavy metal, so to claim they're "just hard rock, not metal"...no, sorry, I don't buy it :)

I don't normally get bothered by celebrities dying, but I have to admit that Dio going really got to me. I saw him perform only a few months before he passed away and the guy (and the rest of Heaven and Hell) was a perfect performer. He still had a lot of great music to offer.
