It's only a small group of people. I also have noticed this thread has taken a very nasty turn, it was that cartoon picture of a woman being raped that really did it for me. It was so brutal at categorising people. Similar cartoons have been posted in the past (I think the USA had quite a nice go with their black community for a while, very similar cartoons). It's easy to disguise racism as satire.

You have to remember that this is a "re-enforcement" thread. It's where people come to have their views vindicated, it's not where you come to discuss them.

Do not judge GOG by this thread, there are about 10 people at most posting, most others have left. I agree it should be closed off.

Fundamentally, I find it perplexing how folks can find brutal speech more upseting than brutal sexual assaults whose perpetrators are certainly scum in my book. The intent behind the brutal speech is much less clear though. Trolling anyone?

To be clear, the cartoon is problematic propaganda even if it has a bottom of truth (which all effective propaganda does), the context however is very real and trying to shame "victims" that want to discuss the circumstances and causes of their fear and shock should not work. Nor should attempt to enforce censorship over such topics.

If I am right, you are the ones that should be ashamed of forgetting the sexual violence that happened across Europe less than a month ago and is being indirectly enabled by discriminatory policing and political taboos. You attack the implicit ethnic / religious demonization on the left side, while conveniently ignoring the right side... In the context of news from Denmark about someone defending herself from rape using pepper spray now being prosecuted for illegal possession, maybe assault even. Can this get even more myopic?

A number of people in this thread (Klumpen0815, DarthSpudius, Brasas, KiNgBrAdLeY7 among others) have outed themselves as the worst kinds of scumbags and I really have no desire to engage with them on any level again, regardless of the topic, because when I see their user names, all I'm going to associate with them is the vileness that I've witnessed in this thread.

And I'm absolutely fucking appalled at GOG for not closing it down.
