So someone contacted me and expressed their disapproval for sharing itch.io freebies...

Months ago, I had huge collaborative posts with 50, 60 itch.io giveaways.

It is much more neater this way.

The problem is games do not go on giveaway at the same time as they did during the beginning of the pandemic.
Now developers post freebies at random times, and some may only last 1 day or even a few hours.
This makes it impossible to post a huge list like I did in March.

But I respect everyone's opinion.

I definitely want them... yes, many of them are lower-quality games but I like having as many games as possible. To me, the larger the collection, the better. I'll be a little more than frustrated if they get banned from this thread.

For itch.io giveaways, I'm with a separate thread supporters.

I think we should keep itch.io freebies. this is the only place where i can find the free games on itch.io. i know theres a thread on fgf but the offers would have expired by the time they create the mega thread. But, yeah, at least 5 games per post would keep the forum neater

Secondly, why one poll for both threads?
That doesn't make any sense at all..

I'd rather have one thread for each place then.
1 epic, 1 steam, 1 Itch.io, etc.
Let people favorite and follow the ones they want instead.

Drxenija is just asking, why so sour? In case, you just ask people not to post them. I'm ok with them though I admit that I rarely play them. Also, assets and books are not videogames, I think that those at least should not be included. I would like exclusive threads if they can be a more relaxed place for discussing the free games, here it seems that it angers people for some reason. Of course you are free to create a new thread at any time.

It's probably the fact that some people don't like itch games because the quality there sometimes is....questionable.

That can be true, but I don't think people should knock it if they found a gem. Some games I don't like have become mainstream now, but I'm not gonna have an attitude and refuse to promote them if there's some sort of freebie for others' sake.

It can also be due to the frequent nature of the deals. That can also be annoying, and yes, this is a lot to keep track of and the condition of those deals. Yet, it is better than not knowing.

Same goes for assets (IMO, some of those are a lot more valuable than the games themselves).

At least in Itch's case, props to them beating out the competition (including the big 3 platforms), in terms of how frequent these deals work to attract people.

So, don't stop, really. If you have to make another superthread about it as a compromise, then fine. You don't have to end it just because there are people whining about it.

I don't see why itch.Io giveaways shouldn't be posted here, but it's not fair that users get downvoted for sharing them here. So if a separate thread is the easiest solution, go on.

I also believe that the best solution is to create a separate topic for the itch games and only post it here if there are very good.

I am sorry but most of the itch games posted here are total garbage to me. I stopped checking them a long time ago. If you separate the topics but only post good games here, if I see an itch game posted I'll think it might be actually worth a shot.

EDIT: I nominate drxenija to open that topic dedicated to itch giveaways. S/he does most of the work anyways. :)
