It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

mrkgnao: Since you suggested this, I'd like you to do something.
There might be people who would not want their wishlist/shelf on the wiki to be easily searchable. I need to know about them, so I can exclude their pages when collecting data.
I recommend you create a "call for comments" thread, where you outline your suggestion and ask whether people have any objections (in general or specifically about themselves). You might want to ask also whether most people keep they wishlist/shelf updated on the wiki. If most don't, it might not be worth the trouble of writing such an extension (GIGO).
You might want to give the thread some catchy title such as "To All the Users of the GOG Wiki" or "Giveaway" or "The Real Truth about tinyE".
Well, I don't want my wishlist searcheable, so I haven't posted it ^_^
Seriously, though, I'm not sure such threads would completely serve the purpose. I'll contact Barefoot_Monkey and see if maybe he can help out, or even push out a new script that allows people to hide their wishlists. I'm not even sure if the Barefoot Essentials don't have that functionality already!

Fair enough. Keep me updated.

I just PM-d him, but also thought of something. Try googling "sacrifice site:gogwiki.com/wiki/user". I don't know what these results imply, but consent over the internet seems to be a tricky matter...

Google does not have to interact on a daily basis with GOG members, so it can do whatever it wants. I, on the other hand, do, and would not want to offend or dismay anyone.

But, anyhow, I looked a little bit into it (slow day at the office...) and I feel it's unlikely to happen.

In order for me to write a tool to search through all the user pages on the wiki, they all need to be formatted more or less identically. They are not. Apparently there is a basic template (or more than one) but users are free to edit their pages as they wish.

A few examples, each formatted differently:
- http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Wodmarach
- http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Yarow12
- http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:ZYZKryten
- http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Zolgar

It's not trivial to write a one parser, but having to write ten or more variants, and then continue to update them as users modify their pages -- unlikely.

It's bad enough that I have to work around GOG changing their page formats from time to time. Having to do the same for the wiki is beyond my capabilities. Sorry.

Thank you for posting this.
Now that the initial ooh-aah has passed, it's hard for me to get a feeling as to how useful people actually find it on a regular basis.
Posts like this keep me going, thinking of new features to add.

Darn, I somehow assumed there would be some built in set of categories, with formatting applied on top. Oh well, thank you for considering it, it's still an awesome tool :-)

In every case, the wishlist is a < ol > with the class "GOGUser_list" and each game is a < li > element. The problem I see is that the wishlist and the game list use the same class and there is no way to knowing which is which just by looking at the code (for example: Woodmarach)

Indeed.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a user that has only one GOGUser_list, but it's his/her shelf, not wishlist.
Some lists don't have game images, some don't have game names. Even links are sometimes inconsistent.
I haven't given up yet, but it looks painful.

Some interesting pages (found by clicking at random):
http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Chitarrista
http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Delkir

http://www.gogwiki.com/wiki/User:Evdk

P.S. Actually Woodmarach is identifiable because he uses the words wishlist and shelf, but Yarow12 decided to be creative...

The engine works so well I wish it could be a part of the GOG site itself! :)

Thank you!
I love Magog, as it's so lightweight, aside from the many options! In order to even begin to use GOG's search function, you'd need too access the "Browse Games" section, and that tends to clog up the browser a bit.

I was wondering, if it's possible to sort out the results? Like, imagine, if the genre button up at the top was clickable, clicking on it would re-list the games by first genre, instead of alphabetical order.

This is just a thought though! I can imagine such a thing tough to implement.

Yes, of course.
At the bottom of the Engine form there is a section titled "Order (how to sort the games selected; default is by ascending title)", under which there are 3 optional sorts (most people need just one), each with numerous sorting options.

This kind of re-sort, however, is not available. The reason for that is:
- Currently all the sorting (based on the above-mentioned options) is done on the MaGog server before sending the results to your browser.
- If we want to re-sort the results after they are already in your browser, we need to have the sorting logic also in the client (i.e. in the browser). That means that I basically need to have two instances of code that can perform the sort and every change to one instance needs to be reflected in the other. It's called code duplication and it's a good recipe for mistakes.

But what you ask for is definitely something that would be convenient and useful. This is one of the reasons why the results of every search are displayed in a new window.

What I do is:
- I run some search.
- Then if I want to see the results in a different order, I just close the results window (Ctrl-W), which automatically returns me to the engine page, with all the parameters of the search still intact
- I then make one change to the order (e.g. sort by genres) and rerun the search (Ctrl-Enter)

Since I'm an experienced MaGog user, it probably takes me no more than 3 seconds to do it all. Admittedly, not as trivial as having a button at the top of column, but probably good enough.

Hope this helps and thank you for the kind words.
