It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Cheers, it appears that the discussion continued while I was typing my post and I failed to notice it. :-)

Emob78: I made a Magog joke a while back in reference to a thread here... using a biblical reference to highlight a point, just for shits and giggles, really. Then I turn around and see this thread. My mind swims with salty water lapping against my craniums. You make a joke no one gets, it gets ignored yet noticed, then kicked back into an ethos with the power of... fucking forum code or something. That's just weird. Something goes from invisible to parody, parody to accepted idea, accepted idea to obsolescence and then back to invisible again.

So yeah, magog. Very interesting stuff. I don't think GOG is in fact the devil, but I'm pretty sure that with a name like magog, someone will make that implication sooner or later. Perhaps a name like 'Fluffy' or 'Mr smarty pants' might make a better search engine name. Why not just call it 'satan smacks you in the face with his wrinkly red sweaty evil balls'... the search engine.
Gog and Magog have a long and complex history, extending well beyond their original Biblical nations, all the way to British giants, and even further:

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.2.5 has been released with the following features:
* Removed the "Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once" opening message, which was intended to appear only once, but appeared repeatedly for people who regularly delete all their cookies [reported by IanM]
* Extended the comments at the bottom of the engine page instead (primarily the third and fourth bullets)

IanM: Small detail: is it possible to prevent the "Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once..." message forcing the tab to be the active one? I open 99% of tabs in the background and ideally they should stay there until I click on them.
I believe the message should be altogether gone now.

Cheers for both the removal of the opening message and the addition of secure links. :D

And once again, kudos for your efforts and dedication. :-)

phaolo: - make the search page remember last used filters?
avatar
mrkgnao: At the moment I consider this low-priority. It's a lot of work.
I see, but would an option to load some custom presets from the UI, instead, be more difficult or easier?

Something like:
- save button -> asks for name and then saves the active search params (in the same file for tags?)
- load button -> shows your list and then restores on click. (ex: like custom tags)

I don't know, however, if this is more doable than making the browser remember the last selections.

That is even more work. It's exactly the same logic as saving automatically, but I also need to add buttons and support selections.
Perhaps you could describe your problem rather than the solution, then I may find a convenient way of doing it.

Ah lol, nevermind then.
I just wanted to avoid reentering all filters for the same refined searches.
After the custom mytags, however, I probably don't need them as much, so.. ok with the low priority.

I have an idea how to specifically improve the "my tags" selection, which seems to be the main issue. Let me sit on it a few days.

Uh, I don't have much problems with "my tags", but ok, I'll see what you will create next time.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.3.0 has been released with the following features:
* Added the ability to filter "My Tags" using checkboxes, as an alternative to the regular [Filters, My Tags, Is Any Of] menu
* Made this ability optional under the control of a selection menu located at the bottom right corner (disabled by default, under the assumption some of you do not plan to use "My Tags", as awesome as they are)
* Added "[tagless]" as one more value under the [My Tags, Is Any/None Of] filters, to allow another option of filtering tagless games
* Changed the behaviour of "Scope" slightly, so that if you select none, MaGog now assumes you mean all (rather than give you a useless error message)
* Fixed a bug in the "My Tags" filter logic which mishandled the case of one tag being the exact initial substring of another (e.g. "owned" and "owned_elsewhere")
* Fixed a major bug in the [My Tags, Is All Of] filter (not sure it ever functioned properly, which may well mean nobody has used it yet)

Well, the new section is quite handy, thanks.
Just check a little bug that duplicates the UI for some reason.

P.S: I think I used "Is All Of", so I'm a bit puzzled about that.. maybe it behave like "Is Any Of"?

Can you please tell me the exact sequence of operations that led to this bug?
Also please remind me which version of which browser you use?
I seem unable to reproduce the problem.
