Sid Meier’s Civilization II, on Windows 95. My first PC, and my first computer game. Definitely love at first pixel. Played that game to death for years, and all the sequels since. Made me a PC gamer. :-)
Doom on Windows 3.1.
Love is a term I reserve for its proper meaning, but the first game I really enjoyed... Hmm... Out of those included on the NES clone I had before the first PC there was Captain Tsubasa, liked that more than the others included on that, even though it was in Japanese so I had to learn by trial and error what each option did, and just ignore the text otherwise. Good thing I never got to the second part of the game, the few times I reached the last match before it I got utterly trashed, as what I see about what that second part entails would have stumped me under those circumstances, needing to select a team when you can't even understand the characters, much less the words...
On PC... Depends on how "hooked" you set the threshold at. I remember really enjoying Elite or Elite Plus, whichever it was, and my mother getting fed up of the menu song, and of me talking about credits :)) But hooked, hooked, back then, to the point that my kid mind was seriously wondering whether the game contained subliminal messages to make you keep playing no matter what or something, Supaplex.
Then there were Warcraft and, later, Age of Empires, amazed by then when played on other peoples' computers since mine couldn't handle them, then getting them as soon as the computer could play them, but then not doing too much when I actually could play more than half an hour or so, as it was when on others' computers, because I suck at RTSs.
And then there's probably "the" game that I was so, so very drawn to back then. I played it late after release, so after almost all the others listed, if not really all, as in even after AoE. But, either way, Quest for Glory 2. I replayed that too many times to count over a couple of years, unlike anything else.
I am not sure about the first game question but, thank you GOG and Bugbear Entertainment / Strategy First for Flatout.

I have owned it for almost 10 years now! I played it a lot! I will gladly forward give this code to a friend.
I just hate when i finally decide to purchase a game during a major sale ( after hesitating for weeks) it's not discounted .
GOG, thanks for the free title.

But this sale...

... many of the usual suspects...

... again...

... but this time I found a number of games at vastly lower discounts within the last 30 days (one game I looked at was around $9.00 but was $0.99 just last week!).

There are so many games in the GOG catalog that rarely go on sale these days... but instead the same games go on sale again and again and again. *sigh*

When was the last time Megaton Rainfall was discounted? That one is always blacklisted from promotions.

ThorBear101: Lady TUT : C64
Ooh, I loved "Lady Tut" on the C64.
So much fun.
Thanks for the giveaway, even if i'm not really into racing games. Especially when they don't have real branded cars, never understood why people are making such a fuss about actual branded cars in games?

I remember games like Test Drive Unlimited or Need for Speed, now those were real racing games. Back in those days no one had a problem with branded cars.

Branded cars make games have a limited shelf life. Those licenses are granted for a certain period of time, and after they expire, the game can't be legally sold anymore, as you can see with just those games you mentioned.

It was probably The Settlers 2, or maybe Transport Tycoon. Hm, don't remember quite exactly. :)
