Did you ever update the KOTOR2 script? It is bugged when installing from a path with spaces. The forum specific thread has a possible fix for it.

A very special announcement for today: ./play.it 2 is out!

The major new feature of this version is the support of a new package format: the .pkg.tar packages used by Arch Linux and derivatives.
./play.it is no longer the exclusive territory of Debian-based distributions users ;)
This support for new distributions now exists mosttly thanks to Amadren, who wrote the first working prototypes of scripts for Arch Linux, and Mopii who wrote a whole lot of ./play.it 2 scripts so we can propose an honorable library of games that you can install on Arch Linux with ./play.it

The scripts format has been worked on a lot to makea them easier to adapt to your needs, or even create new ones, without any previous knowledge of shell scripting.

And for curious developer, the library has been rewritten to improve readability and make it easier to modifiy.
As always, you can find all the project’s code on several public git instances:
./play.it on git.debian-fr.xyz
./play.it on framagit
./play.it on github.com

From now on, all new published scripts will be based on this version, so they will support Arch Linux-based distributions in addition to Debian-based ones.

Well, enough talking, I know you’re all only really interested in the list of ./play.it 2 games, so here you go:

vv221: Full list of games supported by ./play.it

-----

Hello to all penguins lovers!

Some of you already know about my ./play.it project, that allow for an easy installation of your games on GNU/Linux…
To make it short, I distribute scripts that will allow you to build Linux packages from your game installers, so they can be fully integrated into your environment.

Right now, a little more than 160 games are supported, and you can build packages for Debian and any derivative (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc.)
The number of games grow every week, and the number of supported distribution should grow soon too ;)

If I open this thread today it’s to give you weekly updates on the project status. So let’s cut out the wait and jump to what happened to ./play.it in these last days…

-----

Git repositories:
git.debian-fr.xyz
github.com

-----

A week with few new games, but high quality ones ;)

Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri (GOG)
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (DotEmu)
Afterlife (GOG)
Trine Enchanted Edition (GOG)

Of course, the work on this project goes farther than "just" supporting new games, so here is what got upgraded for existing games:

Beneath a Steel Sky
new GOG installer supported (2.1.0.4)
Lure of the Temptress
new GOG installer supported (2.0.0.6)
Neverwinter Nights
full rewrite of the scripts
full rewrite of the usage guide
Pharaoh + Cleopatra: Queen of Nile
full rewrite of the script
new way to split the translation archives
creation of a page dedicated to the translation archives on the website
Pier Solar and the Great Architects
full script rewrite
better multiarch handling
Satellite Reign
new GOG installer supported (2.6.0.8)

Let’s game!
Absolutely Outstanding! Love it! Any chance you can get the GOG kingmaker file to work also?

Errr... why does libplayit2 need dpkg on Arch?
[muntdefems@myPC Desperados_Wanted_Dead_or_Alive]$ sh play-desperados.sh

Error:
dpkg not found. Install it before running this script.

muntdefems: Errr... why does libplayit2 need dpkg on Arch?
Auto-detection of the target platform is done via lsb-release. If it is not installed, ./play.it falls back to building .deb packages.

You can chose your target package format with the '--package' option, see:
sh ./play-desperados.sh --package help
For building an Arch package:
sh ./play-desperados.sh --package arch
-----

Starting from next ./play.it update, a warning will be shown if falling back on .deb package format because of a missing lsb_release command.
