Your missing the point, I agree with you on multiplayer, but that means it's inherently not in the consumers control. The point of drm free is control by the consumer rather than a third party, e that through software embedded in the product like denuvo, or online connection requirement. Therefore multiplayer through authenticated servers cannot be drm free. Lan can be of course.
So the original statement - if you like drm free games then you don't need a client - is perfectly valid and one which you are agreeing with, if you want third party controlled multiplayer then you do need a client, but at that point drm is irrelevant as you don't own that part, and someone else controls it.

The most voted wishlist of Galaxy section is "in progress" for a long time and lots, lots of people complaining due to gog's lack of transparency and this really makes me sad/worried.

I love to be part of GOG's family and I'm proud of my DRM-Free games, so, as a Linux gamer who's investing my money here on this site, I ask:

When will we get our native client?

I understand your position. To be honest, I kinda miss an achievement system so I'd appreciate if devs implemented it in-game [I know there are some] as it's already available on galaxy. And as said above, we miss some games/features due to the lack of the client for linux [Tooth & Tail as an example :( ]

hmcpretender: My impression is that maintaining and developing the windows client is already straining for a rather small buisiness like GoG. If you consider the low number of Linux gamers and the fact that the games in question already run without the client (with the unfortunate exception of some multiplayer features) it just doesn't make sense to dedicate ressources to it. This may change however if Linux market share reaches 5-10% some day and I hope it will.

Please, remember, that they're not able to provide full Galaxy support for all Windows games. And library is still growing, which makes it never-ending task. There will be no kick-off of Linux Galaxy anytime soon.

Kickstarter is good for one-time investment. We're talking about costs of long-time support for limited user base here.
I don't command you to do a Linux client but it would be very very nice to get one ^^
I bought games on Steam because Linux is supported and I'm not a fan of Steam,I love you much more :)
Alas,with the lack of Galaxy-Linux we miss a lot of games here...
The last time I installed a GOG game directly it bricked my whole PC, so I'm not touching this service again until I get GOG Galaxy on Linux. Steam and Proton it is ...

Thronebreaker (specifically) was originally announced more than a year ago, and a "fully featured [sic] single player adventure" for Gwent was mentioned in the FAQ and elsewhere since Gwent's closed beta. This isn't something they just decided to do a couple months ago.

Personally, I'd rather you guys just gave one of the 3rd party developers a hand as possible.

The Galaxy client still lacks basic features like being able to download and maintain an entire library of games. I've got hundreds of games and having to download files individually is rather ridiculous. I should be able to tell the client to check all of the files and only download the ones that have changed or are corrupted.

But try understanding frustration of some users here. CDPR are making card games (not for Linux either), yet GOG Galaxy team has no resources to make a Linux release. That's second class treatment.

If there is no active development, please remove the "In Progress" flag from the post. To do otherwise is to show mild contempt for those of us who had held out some faith that we would someday see our needs met.

Linux users are disproportionately concerned with DRM-free games, I would guess. I think if you invested a little effort, you'd see a disproportionate return. This is a chicken and egg problem, and if you invest a little egg, you'll probably see some pretty good chicken happening.

Steam has shown us some love. For that, I will show them quite a bit of loyalty.

At least we got a straight answer.

As much as I love to support a fully DRM free platform, Valve and Steam have been much better for Linux gaming than CDPR and GOG. It's unfortunate that we find ourselves in a situation in which we must choose between a Linux friendly service or a DRM free service.

Wait, if you are saying you're no working on it why does https://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/release_the_gog_galaxy_client_for_linux is marked as in progress? First you guys let the "Soon for Linux" o months wen there wasn't any work being done, now "in progress" also means nothing. I'm starting to think you guys are just trying to scam Linux users.
We won't. GOG is a relatively small business with limited resources, they focus on Windows (89% of the market) and Mac (9%). Linux has a small userbase (1,5-1,8% of the market) so it's not profitable for them to invest in a native client for the platform. Our only hope is that GOG has not always been driven by profit (being DRM-free is the prime example of this), so at some point in the future they could decide to spare some time and money to focus on Linux too (by releasing Galaxy there and by releasing Linux versions of games that are available elsewhere).

Ps: I'm a Win+Linux user, but if it wasn't for gaming I wouldn't use Windows at all.

As long as games won't make it a habit of making bazillion free "DLCs" as Pillars of Eternity 2 did (which made it a pain to install manually), I don't really care, personally.
