BillyMaysFan59: Hmmmm.... am I the only one who's starting to get a bad feeling about this advancedhero guy?

I wouldn't give anything to him (attention, sweat or time), personally.
Chean and phaolo alreadty noticed his (edit : suspicious) behaviour in the past :

I would say that it is a little extreme to put someone on a list of known scammers, just because he might have two accounts. As far as I can see he didn't scam anybody by now. We should give every user the benefit of doubt and must be careful to not start a witch hunt.

Well I can tell you that I do have 2 accounts, does that make me a scammer? Or an idiot that locked himself out and while waiting for it to come back to mind i had a chat here instead...

KneeTheCap: "Just to be sure" isn't really a reason. Innocent until proven guilty, no?
I think the lynch mob has decided that it's more effective to just to provide fertile grounds for libel and to hell with the consequences.

I'm really surprised that GOG is tolerating this thread as it probably opens them up for liability if somebody is defamed or gets scammed anyway.

stg83: Indeed that is how it should be, but there is no way to prove whether a person is using multiple accounts or not and if there is no record of this possibility then people on the forum won't know any better. It is a conundrum.

rtcvb32: I know a number of sites log the IP address of the poster so using multiple accounts could be proven if they aren't using TOR or something...
It's not really their place to police this. Unless they choose to change their ToS and provide facilities for trading, I see no reason why they should get involved with this unless there's court paperwork telling them to do so.

You're right ofcourse, someone that may or may not have more then one account doesn't mean that they are scamming others. But, what I pointed out was a person possibly using two accounts to increase their chances of winning in a giveaway which is not scamming per say but it is unfair to the other entrants. Regardless, singling out individuals as known scammers is definitely not the way to go about it as that will set a bad precedent for the new users on this forum.
I do admit that I made quick judgment here, and I agree that we should give people the benefit of the doubt before saying they're scammers. I initially wanted to mention advancedhero in this thread because he seems kind of non-trustworthy, and I wanted to give a "be careful" type of warning.

I haven't traded much but I know I do appreciate these kinds of warnings. There are far too many excellent honest users on GoG that have made my few trades smooth and easy. I'd hate for a new user to have even an inkling of a problem. I think someone actively key collecting with multiple accounts is more than enough to give a "Hey, watch out" to people who might want to engage in legitimate trades with said user.

I sort of agree he has not scammed an individual as far as we know, but if he created a fake giveaway and he has a second account for giveaways then that is like a scam to the community as a whole.

I would still trade with him but only if he sends his offer first, and I would definitively would not give him anything directly (but I rarely do that anyway).

Just for your information, sending first is a standard rule of the trading thread for those who have lower rep.
Regarding AdvancedHero, I did trade successfully with him in my early days on the forum (back in June!). I traded Divine Divinity (Steam) for a copy of The Witcher (GOG). I knew it had been a free game given out in the past, but I didn't want to ask for a copy. I actually wanted to trade for one as it didn't seem right to just ask, especially since I was new.
I was perfectly satisfied with the trade as I got a copy of a game I wanted.

However, I did notice when I redeemed the code, it didn't have AdvancedHero as the gifter, but someone else that I can't remember now.
And I sometimes wonder whatever happened with my Humble/ Steam link...
Also, this seems a lot like another advancedhero alt, here.
