Since Witcher 3 came out there is much confusion about if key sellers are legal or not. Some keys have even been banned, because the sellers had no rights to sell them.
So i guess that it would be good if GOG makes a sticky where they provide a list with legal key sellers, so people can check if the online shop where they want to buy is legal and thrustworthy or not.

And/or if this info is still up-to-date:

Other than the stores listed on the site Goodaltgamer linked to, pretty much all key sellers are illegal, since reselling GOG gift codes is against GOG's terms of service (many key sellers buy batches of gift codes, then try to re-sell them). This is kind of what happened with those banned codes, though most of them also had the extra "benefit" of also being bought with stolen credit cards, making them doubly illegal.

Just buy it here, download, and play away whenever you want, no strings attached. No need for keys, clients, or anything else, happy days :o)
The rest of the pay for rental stores can all go up in smoke (virtually).
Legal or not, GOG assumes no responsibility for the validity of keys and you may find that the key won't redeem or the game gets removed from your account if the payment is challenged.

It's really up to you, but there are no guarantees.
Not.

Well, it`s not for me, my PC is not good enuff for Witcher 3, but for all those people who are not sure I made this thread. Yesterday a serious german website, Heise Online, did -with a partner- sell GOG Witcher 3 keys for 29.99 €, which is half the normal price. Since Heise is not a gangster website it looks like this was legal, so many bought from it and thought they didn`t do something forbidden. If CD Projekt gives keys to other dealers, then they should make a sticky on GOG to tell the people which dealers are legal and which are not. At the moment it`s really confusing for many people.

^ This.
I doubt it's actually illegal, but there are risks involved.
No idea about the law, but it is clear that gog is the only official seller of their keys:

There was also a forum post on this, but I can't find it at the moment.

Well, if you read the whole thing it seems as if there`s something wrong with that statement.

Mostly people not realising that there are no official GOG keys anywhere but gog. Not that every other version of the game is illegitimate.

Kickstarter can provide official GOG keys. NVIDIA promo provided official GOG keys. Witcher 3 retail has official GOG keys.
All of said keys though were bonus codes, not gift codes. Gift codes should not be available for sale anywhere.

Are those counted as "Resellers" though? technically it's more like a promo code or something? Although Kickstarter is really a grey area in this case.

Level Up Labs used to sell GOG keys for Defender's Quest. Humble Store sells GOG keys for Witcher 3. UPlay and Origin sell GOG codes. Groupees has given GOG codes.

There are 2 kind of GOG codes, Gift codes which are 20-character hexadecimal keys that do not expire and bonus codes which are 11-character hexadecimal keys with an expiration date. Official resellers get bonus codes, though there are other means to procure them.

So, the correct term would be that GOG is the only place that sells GOG Gift Codes.

I think there are more kinds of codes. For instance, the bonus codes for Wasteland 1/Bard's Tale that you get through Wasteland 2 Digital Classic/Deluxe Edition are 8-digit codes and the codes that GOG gave as part of the summer sale for Sim City 2000/STALKER Clear Sky/Xenonauts were 14-digit or something. An interesting difference between the 8-digit and the 14-digit codes is that while you can add an 8-digit code to your order and history to prevent it from ever expiring, this is not possible for the 14-digit codes.
