More building blocks = less roadblocks.

TerraTech, a sandbox/building game of vehicular combat, is available now DRM-free for Windows and Mac with a 30% launch discount.

Where's the fun in doing battle on the lawless outskirts of the galaxy, if you are still playing by boring Earth rules, right? For one, you shouldn't be constrained to conventional methods of transportation. That's why TerraTech lets you drag-and-drop modular blocks to build your own weird, imaginative, and surprisingly effective vehicles, made from scavenged parts of fallen enemies or gathered resources. Assemble your own oddly-shaped creations and deconstruct anything standing in your way, including enemy bases full of delicious, re-attachable blocks.

Payload Studios realise that TerraTech's appeal heavily relies on the players' enthusiasm for experimentation and out-of-the-box thinking, which will become even more intense once the multiplayer modes are introduced. That's why they want to keep their community involved into the ongoing development process, as they aim to drastically increase the amount of available blocks, and keep refining the game modes and mechanics.

Let your inner constructor in the driver's seat as you play around with flexible TerraTech, DRM-free on GOG.com. And if you want to participate in some additional experimentation, you can gain access to the prototype testing chamber with the TerraTech Deluxe Edition. Or, if you are not yet ready to commit, you can go for the TerraTech R & D Pack at any moment. The 30% discount will last until February 2, 1:59 PM GMT.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Nice game! Have it on Steam already, which brings me to the question:

Why is the Linux build not available on GOG?

MaGo72: So this game is in early access, not finished. They release DLC for the game also marked as "in development" for €9.99. while the main game is still not finished.

Am I the only one being irritated about this?

andreiv72: if you read under the description the term DLC is missleading its actually more involved & access to the protoype stuff etc.

But it could have been better described instead of DLC
Yeah, the "DLC" is actually more like "even earlier access" to the early access game. So they're charging people more to experience even less finished parts of the unfinished game they already bought.

I can't wrap my head around whether that's better or worse than if it was standard DLC. ^_^

Hi guys, thanks for your interest in Terratech!

A lot of people are asking about the R&D pack. As some of you have noticed, it's not a normal DLC; in fact it's not exclusive content, everything in the pack will come into the main game when it's ready. The purpose of the R&D pack is to separate off some of the more experimental, unfinished parts of the game, because even though it's labelled "In Development" (or "Early Access" on Steam) plenty of people still judge by the standards of a finished product.

The R&D Pack is where we test out new, experimental gameplay ideas with only those players who enjoy experiencing unfinished parts of the game and giving constructive feedback. As well as the experimental content, it also includes a Test Lab themed environment which some people appreciate just for the unrestricted building freedom - although there will be a Creative Mode coming to the main game in due course

Lots of people love the R&D Pack, but you really don't need it in order to experience the game, and we don't recommend it unless you want to get more involved with the development process - that's what it's for, and that's why it's separate.

Some people find it misleading to call this "DLC", but for better or worse we chose to take that approach, because all of our supported stores (GOG, Steam and Humble) have a robust DLC system which supports this feature. There is no other way we could do this that would work the same across all stores.

We apologise for any confusion, and hope you'll give TerraTech a try and judge it on your own experience! We will update the description text to try to make this more clear.

About the Linux version: we do have it, and it's available on Steam. Some people are reporting issues with the current build, which is why we haven't released it on GOG yet. We're working on this right now and will make the Linux build available as soon as possible.

Thanks for the explanation, Jamie.

I've watched a couple game play videos but haven't yet seen an explanation of the control scheme. Since it appears that the vehicle travels independently of the cursor, does that mean WASD for movement and mouse for pick-and-place of components and other selection chores?
