Block'hood, a relaxing neighborhood-builder with minimalistic artstyle, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Apartment complexes are the building blocks of a well-functioning neighborhood and neighborhoods are the building blocks of entire cities. If you were given all the necessary tools, would you manage to create an ecologically sound network of tenements that would never run out of resources and fall into decay? What would its inhabitants be like? Only one way to find out.

Aptly named Plethora-Project decided to provide players with a plethora of tiles and give them access to over 90 building blocks, challenging them to come up with interesting combinations and spawn unique neighborhoods with varying degrees of functionality. As they absorb player feedback and continue to improve the current features, Plethora-Project also work on implementing the most ambitious one yet: the population module. Once available, it will flood your pristine-looking neighborhoods with simulated people, challenging you to discover the building combinations that will attract the most unique tenants.

Build the coolest, most efficient, and long-lasting neighborhoods in the whole Block'hood, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Vythonaut: What would an InDev game release thread do, without robertgg's regular "shame" post...?
But's it's a "shane" post this time ;)
So...it's like Simtower, but weird?
Bought it because why the hell not :D It looked so cute :) And I've always been obsessed building multi-level cities. It's what I always do on Minecraft Creative servers so that was certainly the reason why this game attracted me :)

It requires quite some getting used to, but I kinda got the hang of it. It's quite interesting. Feels a bit empty without people walking around, but it's still an alpha so that's already planned afaik.

It would be nice if these things would get addressed:
- placing tiles/structures in tight spots is clumsy because game has problems snapping selection into correct spot
- placing tiles above ground is a bit clumsy since you have to sort of pull it to a structure nearby otherwise you can't place it
- structure direction arrow when you're placing tiles (you have to place it and then rotate it to correct position)
- a better visualized "wrong direction" display, maybe with a red arrow instead of just flashing tile in red
- controls can't be set and "E" key often doesn't work to rotate tiles for some weird reason
- moving view is really clumsy, mouse wheel shouldn't need so many rotations to zoom, right click+hold while moving mouse around outside of build zone should be a preferred world rotation method, not keyboard keys
- show exact values by doubleclicking on Statistics panel instead of being forced to use "K" key
- sickness is a bit funny parameter. Shouldn't it be better if there are no sick people instead of showing as bad if input of sick is lower than output of hospitals? One of structures where money should still be drained but you shouldn't be penalized for not having any more sick people.

This is what I've noticed from several minutes of gameplay. It's alpha, so I guess giving as much feedback as possible is a welcome thing so the dev can improve it.

Haha of course! :)

Nicole28: I'm not really sure what this game is about, but from looking at the screenshots, I think the addition of people animations would be nice. If not, it'd look rather empty, sort of.
From the FAQ:

-The population module: This is the most ambitious feature as it will populate the corridors of Block’hood with simulated people. This will become the main achievement system of the game, allowing players to discover inhabitants by finding the right block combinations.
The graphic style is a bit too minimalistic for my taste. Let's hope there will be some upgrades till final release or at least it'll be easy to mod.

a4plz: snip
Gotta love when honest users give an honest feel on releases. Way to go.

tfishell: Except for that. I don't know, other than a lot of GOGgers are unhappy.

Painted_Doll: This is why i wouldn't trust in Devolver . I think they only use the Gog userbase as a guinea pig .

" Let's see how many of them buy this game before we stop the support of the non-Steam version .
Do you want the newest patch for our games ? Buy them ( again ) on Steam . "
Going by their posts, it was the devs, Vlambeer, who decided not to release essential Luftrausers patches to non-Steam users, not the publisher. So that's a great reason not to buy Nuclear Throne, but doesn't have much impact on the rest of the stuff Devolver Digital publishes (which doesn't include Nuclear Throne - Vlambeer self-published that one).

I like the minimalist style, but a lot of my interest will be determined by the types and behaviour of the inhabitants. I'll definitely be interested to see what people say about it after the "population module" is added in.

Watching this one closely!

Zoidberg: I certainly do.

moonshineshadow: Yep me too. $1.10 fair pricing thing.
nope. I don't see any fair price thing here

100% the kind of game I love.

1. Support indie dev - check
2. Managerial / building reminds me of Sim Tower (which I still play, albeit the original Yoot Tower) - check
3. Brilliant price. I have all "in dev" titles wishlisted because sadly, some of them are just so expensive but this one is just PERFECT - check

Instabuy !

Thank you lovely indie devs and GoG :)

tfishell: I wish we could get Devolver to get Croteam to bring Serious Sam 2, SS3, Talos Principle, etc. here instead. :-P
We can wish all we want, but since Croteam themselves don't want to bother with GOG, there is nothing that Devolver can do about it.
Yes please. I'll have some of this :)
Hmmm, seems a bit lightweight for now, could develop into something promising. We'll see...

Well, at least we'll cry and die someday. :-P
