htown1980: So Bloom County is good? I should buy this?

I have never heard of it (maybe because I am Australian?)

undeadcow: Bloom County consists of cultural and American political satire; for example volume 9 features a bit about Donald Trump's brain being transplanted into a cat, Republican jokes, a jab at band-aids standing out on darker skinned people, etc. Some of the material from the original series is a bit dated and I'm not sure how culturally specific some of the references are but for the price there's probably enough that is universal to be fun (i.e. a jab at censorship). It's a good time capsule of cartoons I remember reading when I was younger that seems to have a cult following.

Trying the $1 tier seems like a safe bet.
Thanks for that, I do follow US politics quite closely (its much more fun than Australian politics - particularly pre Tony Abbott Australian politics) so I think I will enjoy it.

The beat the average tier might be a bit of a risk but I always like to pay more than $1, I think I'll pay $4, one for each book. :)
By the way if you guys are on the fence about Bloom County, you can check it out here first:

Found my collections! I'm glad I bought the bundle, though. I hadn't recalled this, but my Bloom County collection is completely black and white. No color in the Sunday strips. Not to mention, it's very incomplete. Strips are skipped left and right. I'm also glad I bought it when I did. The price is now up to 21 freakin' 55!! I hope people who have twitter accounts are giving Humble a piece of their minds about this new pricing policy...

Complaints about the pricing scheme aside, the collection is really nice. Every few strips there's a commentary of some type from the author. Every strip also has the exact date that it was printed at the top right corner (even the basic month-day normally present in the daily strips was erased in my book collection). It can be very helpful in a strip about pop culture and politics to know exactly when it was printed. The jpgs in the first volume are ridiculously hi-res. Although there is a lot of white space for the occasional commentary and such, even still 7001X5115 is a pretty crazy high resolution. Thumbs up so far...

That average keeps going up, but I went ahead and bought it. I was pretty young when Bloom County was in the newspaper, so it went right over my head at the time. I hear nothing but good things, so I'm hoping that now that I'm older I'll appreciate it more!
Hmm, I might read these just for the author's footnotes.

It's great for me to see a bit more comics of Dark Horse (The Massive, The Strain)
Of Note: The Defiance stuff included in the bundle isn't a game per se, but rather a DLC pack for a free-to-play shooter MMO- as can be seen from the description.

Anyways, I'm not very interested in post apocalyptic stuff so pass...

Also, the BTA+$5 tier is gone with the fixed $15 tier returning to great applause...
Just because it's slightly content-related: there's a Time Travel bundle on StoryBundle with a couple more issues of the Lightspeed magazine.
high rated
A pretty solid bundle, imo. I've been trying to avoid the book bundles recently, rather unsuccessfully...
Yes, I'm looking hard at that Storybundle batch. Kind of hoping it will go away by itself, before I go and buy it.
Will get the Time Travel Bundle, maybe. Time Travel is cool :D
Storybundle have nice bundles, but I don't have that sort of disposable income
