If this is a Dawn of War-like "coming soon", we're in for quite the wait. Still, very nice! :P

mqstout: Are you not counting the Microsoft-owned Bethesda/iD releases?
Indeed, Microsoft's "strategy" on GOG is to bump up its presence through acquisitions. (/s)

Do these God of War and Uncharted games have the same "data collection" as Days Gone does?
Boy! Come to GOG boy!

I'm specifically counting PlayStation and Xbox Game Studios published titles.

In terms of Bethesda, most of their games were published on GOG before Microsoft acquired them and Microsoft was quite hands-off with them so far. This is about to change, which may mean bad news for GOG, considering how we've not received any Obsidian games that were published by Xbox Game Studios. Xbox-published Quantum Break is also not on GOG, despite the fact that other Remedy games are on GOG.

We don't have any of Microsoft's classics either. No Halo 1&2, no Fable 1&3, no classic Flight Sim, etc... Microsoft loves DRM.

It's Sony. All their more recent titles (including Horizon Zero Dawn) come with data collection that one can only partially disable. My advice is simply to get an application firewall and not care, since they work fine even if they never get a chance to call home.

Weren't those games released before MS acquired Bethesda/iD?
soon™ is a word devoid of any meaning
Yes!!! I had my hopes up that Sony would release more games here after Days Gone was released, but I admit that I thought it would take a while. Say maybe Q3-Q4 2024. Incredibly happy to be proven wrong, cannot wait to pick up and play these majestic games.

rjbuffchix: When I saw the title God of War I was hoping for the old games, not the "Dad of War" new one. Bummer, negative interest towards that title.

mqstout: I didn't play any of the prior ones, but I found it to be a fun enough game. I never did play NG+ or even finish out the one save because it's ULTRA grindy to farm for materials to upgrade gear to be able to win the arena to farm materials to upgrade gear. And obnoxious "challenge" fights (fighting Valkyries) that I didn't want to experience ever again because they were tailored to that certain type of player.

But the core gameplay was fun. Decent combat, and a really pleasant story. Worth playing and enjoying and getting pretty deep in, but not worth 100%ing.

I'll probably cheat my way through a re-play on PC. (As in give myself the resources to skip the worst of the grind.) Looking forward to trying Uncharted. Never played it.
I appreciate the extra context! For me in regards to GoW, it is more just a personal preference/peeve as I simply don't like to take on the role of a parent character in a game. Most would find this silly, granted. But I am constantly around people who are playing these real-life "escort missions" and I am just so not interested lol.

But hmmm, the "annoyingness" of the Valkyrie enemies does intrigue me...I think I am "that certain type of player".

Uncharted is action-heavy and has good sense of adventure. I have seen it compared to "playing an Indiana Jones movie." I think I was given wrong impressions when people in the past told me I'd love it, that it was like Tomb Raider, etc. It is maybe like Tomb Raider 2013. Tons of enemies/shooting sections, and much simplified platforming during the relatively rarer platforming sections. I thought it did the cover shooting stuff well and the set pieces are very easy on the eyes. It just wasn't what I was hoping for. Then again this is coming from someone who thinks Tomb Raider 1 is the peak of the series and that starting with Tomb Raider 2 there was already way too much action focus.
Nice!

I'm hoping The Last of Us Part I will also be released on GOG!
Huh, neat.

Maybe we'll get Forbidden West on Day 1, then?

EverNightX: Fantastic news, but its so late I'm sure I'm not the only one that already bought them.
I have both games on PS4 and will buy them on GOG now.

Thanks for posting that information.

I see what you are saying.

But on the other hand, customers should not have to do that.

And also, doing that would disable important features, like Achievements and Cloud Saves.

So for that to be a viable option, there would have to be a way to disable to the spyware-like elements of the games, whilst at the same time still leaving the feature-related elements of the games intact, which that quoted solution does not accomplish.

And, GOG curation should be insisting that these spyware-like elements be removed from the GOG versions of these games, just like how they insisted for SEGA to remove a minigame from the GOG release of Yakuza: Like A Dragon for supposedly having gambling, even though it didn't actually have any real-life money involved, so there was no legitimate reason for GOG to have SEGA remove that part of the game (but GOG did anyway, and SEGA complied).

That shows that GOG can cause publishers to alter the code in their games and to remove elements of games that GOG doesn't think should be included in GOG games.

So then, why is GOG not doing that exact same thing for these data collection spyware-like elements of these Sony games?

GOG really should be doing that. And without GOG doing that, then these Sony releases aren't worth buying.
