Happy Holidays from the GOG.com team!
The holiday season is here. The world, in all its little shopping frenzies and chaotic reunions, seems to slow down just a little. It slows to taste the crisp winter air, to be childishly entranced by all the lights and colors.

As for us, we're going to celebrate with a little something special.
With a new free game in our catalog: Bio Menace, something of a mix between the smooth and joyous gameplay of Commander Keen, and the alien weirdness of the original Duke Nukem platformers. The spacey 2D shooter by 3D Realms is now part of our selection of free, truly worth playing, classics.

With a Happy Holiday Sale from GOG.com & Bethesda:
Have a holly, jolly discount. It's the best time of the year. We don't know if there will be snow, but have a cup of deal. It's up to 75% off the entire Bethesda catalog on GOG.com - including the three and only classic Fallout games, as well as some of the best shooters in history: the retro Wolfenstein 3D & Return to Castle duo, The Ultimate DOOM, DOOM II & Final DOOM alongside the Quake series (from the singleplayer gory of Quake + Quake II, through the timeless mutliplayer mayhem of Quake III). Finally, there's the chance to explore the history of The Elder Scrolls with classics like Morrowind, Battlespire, and Redguard.

As always, any purchase from the Bethesda catalog on GOG.com comes with a free copy of The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall!

Looking for last-minute gifts? There ya' go.
The sale will last until December 29, 4:59 AM GMT.

Have a happy holiday season!
This Christmas I'm Returning to Castle Wolfenstein and I'll make sure that by the end of the year, everyone who's inside will meet their Doom II + Final Doom.

Many wishes to everyone for having a good time and thanks to GOG & Beth for the freebie!

npalsensei: BTW, I searched for Daggerfall in GOG and it's not there.
That's because there isn't a page for either Daggerfall or Arena.
avatar
npalsensei: Isn't Daggerfall ALREADY given out by Bethesda anyway through their own site? What more does GOG offer on Arena and Daggerfall exactly?
Pre-configured DOSBox installations (on Bethesda's site, you'll have to do it yourself) and Arena is the CD version here (as opposed to the Floppy version offered on Bethesda's site).

Yes, they've been available from their site for a long time now, but only as zip-archives with the raw game files. You have to setup Dosbox yourself to play them. Here, of course, they're pre-configured to run with one click.
Also, for some reason, the version of Arena on the Elder Scrolls site is "only" the floppy-disk release, rather than the CD version available here.

IAmSinistar: And it looks like they didn't just lift story elements from John Carpenter, but actually borrowed his face for the their protagonist. :)
Good to know I'm not the only one who's seeing that.

Have you tried GOG's version of Quake 3 Gold? I'm trying to figure if the servers are still working for that game.
Own Return to Castle Wolfenstein on GOG. Checked.

1300? Good number. Also, you suck for having more games than I do. ;P

No, I haven't, sorry!
Nice promo, even if I already bought all them. And great to see Biomenace here, hope to see one day finally all Apogee/3D Realms's old catalogue in GOG

You've been closing for a good while now but you may never quite reach. My will-not-buy list is just a couple of games... :)

On topic: The freebie is a nice touch, but it's disappointing Bethesda and GOG apparently didn't come to an agreement about any new releases. Come on, Fallout 3 and New Vegas? Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? No?

And on top of that:

"Du kannst deine Bestellung nicht abschließen, da Wolfenstein 3D + Spear of Destiny , Quake II: Quad Damage, Return to Castle Wolfenstein in deinem Land nicht verkauft werden dürfen. "

The proper form of that would be "Sie können ihre Bestellung nicht abschließen, da Wolfenstein 3D + Spear of Destiny , Quake II: Quad Damage, Return to Castle Wolfenstein in ihrem Land nicht verkauft werden dürfen. "

These games should only be sold to adults anyway, and addressing an adult customer using "du" is generally considered rude, and just feels like adding insult to injury in this context.

They'll have to leave some excitement for the next year, as well. ;)
BioMenace.

Commander Keen for grown-ups.

Also, glad there isn't a full package deal, having those repeat entries for the Fallout games would throw off the discount for buying the entire library.

I'm still kinda tripped out that they didn't put Oblivion up here.

I still have the discs for it, and the bonus content installers, so I don't need a replacement just yet.

Skyrim, Fallout 3, and New Vegas would be nice though. Especially as they all have Steam and I can't just pop in the CD/DVD like with my older Bethesda games.

I only bought their older library because I wanted a GOG copy for insurance in case of disc damage, I already owned all of it, and it already didn't require Steam to play.

My Fallout 3 disc doesn't require Steam.
