It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

nightcraw1er.488: Cool, good news. In this age where everything seem to stop working except on bleeding edge, highly builds, compatibility is a big problem. Especially as all these games are XP or before era.
The lack of support for WinXP was the one reason keeping me from considering this. Plenty of other developers out there (including one-man shops) offering support for older versions (even 9x/ME). Lack of support from MS means no further updates which should really make support easier (no likelihood of having to make emergency changes to accommodate a new Windows update for instance).

morrowslant: GC4 is a great utility tool.
Link to the Grid Cartographer 4 website in the OP is slightly outdated though, you may want to edit/update the link.
thanks! and I updated the op :)

As for Windows XP, the compiler I'm using (Visual Studio 2017) makes executables that literally don't run at all on Windows XP any more. Let alone the fact that XP is predominately 32-bit and GC has been 64-bit for a long while. You need Windows 10 to run it, sorry.

If you're generating 32-bit code, then it's a two byte adjustment to get it working on XP (unless you're using DLL functions only implemented from Vista onwards - even then these can often be worked around).

64-bit code is another matter entirely of course. But exactly what part of an application generating maps for (principally DOS-era) games requires >2GB RAM space? Particularly since Campaign Cartographer, a far more mature (and seemingly better featured) map creator requires just 256MB.
This may be a silly question, but I've searched the option menus for this several times and can't find it.

I'm using the latest version of GC Gamer Edition and I'm wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut for switching focus from the Gamelink window to the mapping window. I'm playing Wizardry 6 with gamelink on and would love to be able to flip back and forth without having to use the mouse button to change focus.

This program is so great. Love using it for manual mapping and leaving notes. Having the ability to jump around the screens would make it totally perfect!

Thanks to whoever will probably show me how simple and obvious this is, haha
Surprise! Great news! Grid Cartographer is now officially a 'one-time purchase' product.

Hi all. I received unfortunate news today. FastSpring, who've processed payments for the GC website since v1.0 have suddenly changed the terms of our agreement, requiring a large sum of money to be paid to continue to use their service. Due to relatively poor sales via the website in recent years, I've decided to end our relationship rather than pay what feels like a ransom.

Going forward, new copies of Grid Cartographer will now only be available for purchase through Steam. Effective immediately, the (feature limited) 'Gamer Edition' is no longer available to purchase. Upgrades to different editions are also no longer available (but there were maybe 5 upgrades happening a year at most).

Downloads of the Gamer/Pro Editions for existing customers, the so called 'website versions', will remain available (and receive future updates) but may be re-located since they could now cause additional confusion. I still have small details like this to resolve, please bear with me as the dust settles.

I'll continue to enter GC into the summer/winter sales on Steam with a large discount, typically coming close to the $20 mark the Gamer Edition was priced at (but with lots more features).

Sorry for the sudden impact of this change, it has taken me completely by surprise and not what I wanted to happen.
