Oriza-Triznyák: another fucking merch store code ????

You should remove the word " surprises " from the front page banner .

I am expecting a banger October 7th. I was hoping for Freelancer (maybe together with some more Microsoft releases). At the moment I'm guessing it will be Silent Hill f since that is being teased so heavily now.

I have a sinking feeling the final day 'special' reveal is going to be that bloody awful new game that's pretending its part of the Silent Hill franchise...

I think i'm the only one in here who doesn't care about any games from the SH / RE / DC / DmC series .

Another boring sale for me .

It's a Silent hill in everything but setting and much closer to the original (SH and SH3) vibe of the franchise, while also taking the psychological stuff from 2

It made it into my top 3 fast

I'm afraid I don't see how this is Silent Hill when there's no real horror, only some gross imagery, everything is overly washed out and brightly lit, enemies and combat repeat so frequently and with such janky dark-souls wannabe mechanics that I don't see anything as scary, just annoying and repetitive. The psychological elements don't work for me either as they are so on the nose and pretentious it just makes me roll my eyes.

The whole "Chinese made game set in Japan with heavy anti-family subtext" thing really gives the game a jingoist vibe that really rubs me the wrong way.

RE never was my thing and SH well the hype drove me away from trying it till several years later , DMC I like but not that big into sense 4 as to me the game ip vastly changed at 4 still enjoy it to a degree

Still I'm hyped when a huge ip ends up here or atleast ones of a Japanese company as they traditionally are largely pro-drm but has been seemingly warming up to drm-free more and more

I can't shake the feeling it's going to be a new terrible layout for the website they've been testing recently.

I can't even tell the difference between Resident Evil and Silent Hill. None of those hold any interest for me.

Wouldn't be the first time, but surely a new, new layout couldn't be as messy and illogical as the current one... right?

Breja: If it was The Witcher merch at least... the Cyberpunk gadgets just aren't very appealing. But at least it's something I guess.
GOG were going to announce a triple A title today and give it away to their loyal customers for free, but they read this comment.

Apparently the reason why everything is washed out is because all of the atmospheric lighting is locked behind some setting called Lumen. Which apparently also causes huge performance issues.

So yeah, if I understood right, the devs designed it so that the horror comes from a setting that's really taxing on the computer, and if you don't have it active you lose 90% of the atmosphere. Which, imo, is horrible design.

I was thinking of site redesign too, but here's one good argument against: they would probably wait those few weeks with dark mode and new reviews system to introduce it all at once for such a big occasion.

Resident Evil is more action horror (especially 4 through 6), and has a campier overall tone with inventory management playing a pretty serious role. Silent Hill, for the most part, is psychological horror, features a darker tone, and doesn't restrict your inventory (outside of Silent Hill 4 I think, and maybe Downpour which I think had breakable weapons.)

There's a heavier focus on combat in Resident Evil, though both feature a decent chunk. Most Silent Hills have you being a regular person with relatively low combat ability, compared to Resident Evil where combat is more fluid and less stressful overall.
