An event like this happens only once a year – our Anniversary!

And of course, here’s some of the deals:
Cyberpunk 2077 (-65%)
Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition (-60%)
Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete (-50%)
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition (-80%)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Gold Edition (-35%)

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon (-10%)

…and more!

This was very disappointing, the big climax of these gifts was Silent Hill F being on the store?
Not what I come to Good Old Games for.
Now If that had been Silent Hill 1 or classic Silent Hill 2 on the store, that would have been exciting!

Maybe you don't care but there are others that come here for DRM-Free games and that means new games as well and not only old. Also it's been probably more than 10 years since they changed their name to GOG

I've been spreading this info almost every time I've read the Good Old Games name and got tired, but I'm thankful that there's still people spreading it. Thanks!

Tomb Raider Rise and Shadow are effectively Good Old Games at this point. And it's a big deal for GOG to have gotten a AAA title - Silent Hill f - just a few weeks after launch.

GOGmissariat: If I am not mistaken the 04.10 surprise was a 20% discount on "The Witcher" merchandise.
Thanks! So I did not miss anything.

avatar
Cavalary: Sep 28: Extra discount on Master of Magic games (was the classic also free? not sure, since I have it since it was free before)
Thanks for the list! And none of the Master of Magic games were free, only discounts were offered.

SultanOfSuave: Yeah, if you were to use the promo code 'FreeWilly' you would get some Whale Rock games for free.
Really? Too bad, I would have taken them only to prevent them to clutter up the first page of every second promo on GOG. ;)

I dunno. Contemporary Tomb Raider games are highly context-sensitive, cover-based, over-the-shoulder shooters with discrete progression systems that often devolve into walking-sim segments, just like every other game of their kind on the market. They're homogeneous. So, even if they had come out a thousand years ago, I don't think they would qualify because it takes more than time to be old. The virtue of olden games is their heterogeneity, which was often the result of the lack of development templates. Oldness, you see, is more about being unfashionable.

Hah, no, not really. It's a vulgarity on my part, expressing what an unfortunate soul receive even if he were to be given those games free of charge... a mouthful of something unpleasant disguised as something wonderful.

It's fine for Silent Hill F to be here on the platform, but its an underwhelming choice to be the grand finale of the weeks long event to celebrate the anniversary of GOG.

This is probably the closest we've gotten so far to getting a "AAA" release day-1 on here on GOG (aside from CDPR games). So it's a major deal in that way.

I'm happy enough that GOG managed to get so many games with a name from big publishers and developers, honestly.
I won't be playing Silent Hill f, most probably, but for people that will enjoy it and for the sales on GOG (a DRM-Free focused platform), this release is good.

As you explained in the other thread, Crysis, Silent Hill f, Clair Obscur, TR: Survivor Trilogy...
This is great for marketing, thus, good for the cause.

Silent Hill f, for example, could mean > MGS series releases soon enough.
Here hoping. :)

Do we really need yet another release of the Master Collection? Especially considering the optimal way of playing the Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid games on the computer is, and might always be, emulation. The GOG store has already gotten one less than ideal version of Metal Gear Solid '98 with the Y2K Windows port. Why not focus instead on Snatcher and Policenauts? Good ol' games that aren't officially available.

For completion sake yes and that they are official rather then using a rom and some random emulator

as for why not stuff like the examples you gave, basically Gog is a business so going for whats likely to bring in the best money from sales and bring in new users. So big name games in someway and well known ones by even the general public is often the best for both cases

Though for me I'd much rather Castlvania collections over any MGS collection

I understand GOG is a business. That's precisely why it should try to find something only it can offer.
