An event like this happens only once a year – our Anniversary!

We’ve been here for 17 years; that’s quite a lot of time of making games live forever! For this occasion, we prepared something special: even though it’s our birthday, you’re the one getting gifts. Visit our store every day for a surprise!

Is this really so hard to get? I'm not hating on GOG. I like GOG (despite everything they messed up over the years). I want GOG to keep going and improve and thrive. That's precisely why it upsets me when they shoot themselves in the foot. We all know their position isn't the strongest. They can't afford to turn good marketing opportunities into such disappointments.
I didn't intend for my post to be taken so seriously. All the negativity is annoying, but if you think GOG is listening to feedback in here, I can understand. If it were up to me I'd just do more boring stuff to annoy forum people even more :P, but thankfully I'm not in charge. ;)

There's a high chance the last 07.10 present is another surprise release (or several, we'll see) based on the microsoft deal, but GOG also teased something about a japanese developer

Hey, if this were a really good troll I'd respect that. I just think they're falling a bit short of that too. For that they'd have to gvie away the wallpapers one size at a time for four days or something like that. They were close with two days of the Preservation Program link.

The funny thing is, that would actually cross over into being genuinely better marketing. A joke "Meme Preservation Program" like that would actually be a way better advertisment than dumping that link twice into the "gifts". Make a bunch of trollface comics about old games not working on modern hardware. Make a YTMNG page with a picture of the GOGbear and a voice saying You're The Man Now, GOG! on a loop. Run wild with it for a week. People would have a laugh, some gaming media would probably at least mention it. It wouldn't set the Internet on fire but it would generate some positive buzz.

There. We just made up a better promo event.
