They don't actually say that there will be "free games", they only say they will grant wishes for free. They could just as well mean: "We're letting your wishes come true (for free): Thousands of wishlisted games will go on sale (so you can buy them cheaply)!"

Or, they could give us one game as a freebie that's found on a few thousand users' wishlists.

Anyway, from what I gather, there will be a wishlist sale from April 16th to 23rd, and it will include games with the highest count on users' wishlists, so the more users wish for a certain game, the more likely it is to be discounted in the sale.

How did you even make it that far? For me it crashes right after the intro. I thought the GOG version would run better than the Steam version, but nope, I never even get to try the actual game before it crashes.

I had that exact problem. Well, I think it's the same, if you mean the "DP.exe has stopped working" thing. I've spent more time trying to get the wretched thing to work then I did playing it. To quote dr Insano "I've never worked so hard to get something this broken to function".

True. I found the wording unclear from the start. Still, if that's the case then it will be a very badly botched PR move, since it will leave a lot of people disappointed. But honestly, a badly botched PR move would be so very GOG.

The problem is that people still keep buying into the hype and contributing to it, downright asking to be disappointed each time. Maybe this will be a cool event, it sounds interesting. Maybe there will be awesome goodies, or maybe not. We'll see on Monday. There will still be enough time to celebrate once the cause for celebration is clear instead of wishful thinking. ;)

I doubt it's people that buy often. Maybe it's people that buy once every few months. There's games I'd buy here if not for the fact I kickstarted and requested a Steam key. My last order for money was a mystery game in March. Before that, Febuary (around $21 in Febuary total on GOG). Febuary was when FFXV was pre-ordered on Steam. I've not seen much more for buying from GOG recently because it's nothing I want (and I got a phone screen to get repaired before September when I hand it in or I have to pay a balloon payment for the phone)

aside from greed, selling broken malware infested stuff is gog's big main core value since 2014.

1) I'm always skeptical of claims of free games. Reading the text of the tweet doesn't mention ANY free games. I hope people aren't setting themselves up for anger or disappointment if gog doesn't give out free games.

2) This interpretation is supported by gog saying the most wishlisted games will be super cheap. You don't offer discounts on games you're giving free. So it sounds like a sale on certain games. At least this sale is likely to include games that many will want, instead of three dollar mystery boxes.

3) The "granting thousands of wishes" made me think that they were going to fulfill something from the community wishlist... something with thousands of votes. Nice, but not thousands of free games. Think Grim Fandango finally coming here, or NOLF, or something like that (yes, I know GF is here).

4) My email only mentions games on sale, no freebies or wishes. It seems odd marketing for gog to announce the gift of free games only on twitter and not even on the forum. Wouldn't the forum be the BEST place to announce a reward for forum regulars?

5) I strongly second TARFU's point about entitlement and gratitude. Gog doesn't owe us anything, nobody owes us free games, we are not entitled to anything. Be grateful for what you are given, even if you don't plan on keeping it or using it. Smile and say thank you.

You missed the semicolon on the end of the decimal code for the colon, and the hex code for the apostrophe should just have 27 following the percent sign, rather than 2527. (To be fair, I failed to even notice the apostrophe in the URL when making my earlier reply.)
EDIT: I see the decimal code for the colon gets changed into a "real" colon after posting (it should be "[ampersand][pound]58[semicolon]"), so if you make an edit (or expect the code to work when quoting it in a reply), you'll have to replace the colon with its code again before re-posting. Curiously, this doesn't happen with the decimal code for the apostrophe (nor with either symbol's hex code, so it might be better just to use that).

ZFR's post is very helpful when trying to get a handle on this crap. (There's also some other workaround for links that has to do with placing them inside quotation marks, but I forget what circumstance that's good for.)
Of course, credit where credit's due -- none of this would be necessary if GOG had even remotely decent forum software.
