A sale? In the middle of the month? Right when I spent all my money on booze and wine? What´s with the thousand games for free, they promised me?

Amongst other games, I've had two free games on my wishlist for a while now. If those are getting cheaper then I guess GOG'll be adding funds to the wallet. Though I'm uncertain whether that'll get me to add them to my library. My wishlist is more about indecisiveness and curiosity, rather than dreams or goals.

finkleroy: GOG tweeted that they will grant thousands of items on users' wishlists for free on Monday, so now's the perfect time to make sure yours is in order! Here's the entire tweet:
Many out of ten gamers agree: a healthy wishlist means a happy lifestyle. Especially on Monday. Here's why:
-We're granting thousands of wishes to GOG users for #free!
-The most wishlisted games will get super cheap!
Awesome, right? But we're not mind readers, so you know... (START YOUR WISHLIST)

We'll be granting thousands of wishes to active GOG.COM members on Monday, April 16. Awesome, right? We're not mind readers though, so, you know...
Not much of a difference between the two announcements. Anyway, we must keep in mind that they stated "the most wishlisted games will get super cheap", which makes it quite plausible that "we're granting thousands of wishes to GOG users for #free" can mean that GOG will bring the free Command & Conquer games, which got thousands of votes in the community wishlist. And who knows what other "free" wishes are in there... :P My only hope is that they fixed the wishlist notifications, because they broke it at some point, and I got notifications for discounts that didn't even exist. If they didn't fix it and I'll get another inexistent discount, I'll empty my wishlist and unsubscribe from everything GOG. Their so-called incentive to make wishlists rather makes me think about more spam than anything good.
Sure, it's their 10th anniversary. But I bet they won't release GOGGalaxy for Linux, nor fix longstanding site bugs. Just another big discount thing, and maybe some new free-for-all games. Nowadays I have a very low opinion of GOG. It's a good thing, though - it's hard to get even more disappointed.

I still have my 10 games on my wishlist. I could add some more but I think it's a kind of bad idea, as the more games you have the less chance you get the one you wish the most (if anything like that happens).

finkleroy: If you do happen to receive Deadly Premonition for free, you should be stoked. My coffee tells me that if you can put up with having to use a fan-made patch and occasional crashes, you'll be treated to a bizarre yet brilliant game. What do you think, Zach?
bhrigu: For me DP runs fine without any patches. Aside from a few crashes here and there, and Francis having to take a few more cigarette breaks than he felt like, it ran just fine.

Yeah, but who wants to have to play it in 720p with overly saturated colors? Yuck.Aside from a few crashes here and there, and Francis having to take a few more cigarette breaks than he felt like, it ran just fine.

If anything, this is making me *remove* stuff from my wishlist to increase the chance of getting something I want.

finkleroy: I copied and pasted both of the links you posted. The decimal codes link didn't work; as far as I can tell, it's identical to what I used. The hex codes link worked, though. [...]
No, the decimal codes aren't meant to work as-is in a browser's address bar; as far as I know (and I know not much more about this than you do), they're mostly just meant for the purpose for which we're employing them here -- i.e., as a way of inserting characters that a given piece of web software doesn't like or support and having the software still print something human-readable. The hex codes are explicitly for use directly in URLs. Clicking the decimal code link directly (or right-clicking link and selecting "copying the link location" or whatever, then pasting it into the address bar) works as intended, however. :)
No problem. Apparently I was quite bored at 2:00 in the morning. :P
I don't know about that. "Never" is even longer than "Soon™". ;P

I hope some of the games I have on my list finally go on sale. Even better if I could get one for free, but I'm just thankful that GOG does this for their customers. I don't regret dumping Steam at all :)

I thought about that as well, but this thread has sown so much doubt in my mind that I figure it couldn't hurt to fill up my wishlist.

I can't be sure, but I think I remember GOG giving away free games in the past. I mean this sort of deal with the wishlist and all. I don't know, it could be my old gamer brain fabricating memories again. It seems to have been many years in the past. *rubs chin and looks up quizzically*
