Where is steam's response?...................
(ThankYou GOG......I'm not a fan of censorship regardless of medium)

rjbuffchix: For my own views, this giveaway bundle taking a stand against censorship is the most encouraging thing GOG has done in... possibly my whole time here. As far as I'm aware, it is also one of the most (if not THE most) impressive giveaways GOG has done in terms of value. I think that helps reinforce the importance of the message, too. Bravo to GOG for a job well done, and a cause well-advocated for!
Since it says you joined in 2017, I'm tempted to agree.

paladin181: Making the games free defeated the purpose. After all, Itch put their free games back up, as it's only paying for shut with Visa/MC that offends them. By making this bundle free, they have effectively bypassed the part wherein the violators get their panties In a wad.
avatar
ElDoRado1239: Um, no?

It's a statement slash awareness thing. Selling a bundle at a discount wouldn't do anything, and it would never be so popular and reach so many people.

The free games were a vehicle to spread awareness.
Also, selling them would have been marketing, taking advantage of the situation. As it is, they teamed up with the devs, all taking losses (you can imagine that these games won't be sold in the near future, nearly anyone with any interest grabbing them now) to send a message.

Just noticed that EFF has a "financial censorship" category, though it doesn't yet include anything about this particular issue.

JakobFel: The redeem page I got simply said "Freedom to buy games" bundle. Didn't expect it to be filth like those games. It didn't give me any option to determine which games to claim, nor did it even age check the claim.

If it would've age checked and told me what the games were, I wouldn't be angry. I still believe that porn filth shouldn't be on ANY games store but the fact that it was added to my account without telling me what those games were and it wasn't age checked (there ARE kids on the platform) is absolutely immoral in my eyes. It's the part that was the final straw for me.

foad01: WTF!

You aren't informing yourself before clicking any button?

The first post here includes a list of the games. Are you expecting something else from a game with the title "Fetish Locator Week One" or "Helping the Hotties"? The website shows clearly what you get from the bundle:

https://items.gog.com/freedomtobuy/index.html

This website is linked everywhere.

You are responsible for your own dumb and imbecile behavior here and not GOG. Because of people like you phishing works.

JakobFel: (there ARE kids on the platform)
avatar
foad01: In this case GOG can terminate the accounts. The GOG User Agreement is very clear about it.

"1.6 If you're over 18, then welcome! If you're between 16 and 18, before we extend an equally warm welcome, please ask your parent or guardian to review and approve this Agreement on your behalf (because in some countries people under a certain age cannot legally enter into contracts like this Agreement). If you’re not 16 yet you cannot have a GOG account or use the GOG services because legally we cannot handle personal data of children without a special parental or guardian’s permission (but your parents/guardians are welcome to sign up themselves)."

https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/212632089-GOG-User-Agreement?product=gog

GOG is a store for adults.

If you let your kids browsing this store and they see something inappropriate, it will be solely your fault. GOG or any other store is not responsible for bad parenting.
I shouldn't have to visit a separate page to look up what a bundle contains. Every other bundle I've purchased or claimed has informed me on what was in it. This one did not. Why did they not inform me? It's beyond shifty.

I learned about the bundle through a giveaway community, not through GOG itself. It's pathetic that you call it "imbecile behavior" to be angry that GOG put degeneracy on my account without informing me about it beforehand. What's more is that I have no way to remove that crap without contacting GOG support and even then, it's not a guarantee they'll help.

Also, yes, KIDS: 16 and 17 is still underage and should not be playing that absolute filth.

Timboli: It's not GOG's fault, you clearly got the link via a third party who short-cutted things for you.

And it's also the case, that GOG have not advertised this on their store at all, so while it is official it ain't shared all that openly.

If you had gone via the route (link) that tfishell shared, you would have seen what games were in the bundle.

And checking each game individually, you got queried about your age, and for some folk the game page wasn't accessible or the bundle unless you used another shortcut or Private mode or a VPN.
avatar
lupineshadow: I wish I could even check the store page for some of these games.
avatar
Timboli: Use a Private Mode window and close it between viewing those games that require it.
It absolutely IS GOG's fault for not informing me what was in the bundle. Literally every other bundle I've purchased or claimed on GOG has clearly shown what games were included, except for this one. Leads one to wonder why they were being so shifty about this one.

I did not get an age check at any point in the process.

avatar
Cavalary: Well, they did go against the sex industry too, and it wasn't just OnlyFans (which isn't small fish, actually). I mean, ACLU's petition regarding Mastercard is about that and it's been around for years, they started the campaign along with those new policies in 2021, when there was also one regarding PayPal's actions, with a letter by the EFF that spelled out other aspects. Quoting from there (there are links for verification in the document):
avatar
randomuser.833: Oh, don't get me wrong here.
Onlyfans is big, but it is if Youtube and Patreon had a child for housing little porn producers.
I was more referring to the big movie production companies inside the USA, that still shit out large movies and make a ton of cash. To my knowledge they avoided to pee on that tree directly.

JakobFel: The redeem page I got simply said "Freedom to buy games" bundle. Didn't expect it to be filth like those games. It didn't give me any option to determine which games to claim, nor did it even age check the claim.
avatar
randomuser.833: [ ] I did read the terms of service before joining, that tell me that GoG has a much higher age restriction then Facebook (16 with parents allowance, 18 without)...

avatar
Vava8076: GOG talking a whole lot of **** for someone who still won't sell classic Fallout despite claiming to offer the "best version of this game you can buy on any PC platform".
avatar
randomuser.833: It was Bethesdas decision what to sell and what not to sell...
And pushing this crap onto a 16 or 17 year old is still predatory behavior.

---

Was I really this blind of a fanboy back in my time that I'd defend morally reprehensible and shifty behavior? Maybe I was, but I really don't think so, given the fact that this company has only gone this route over the past couple years and I stopped defending them around that time...

You have read that there is a bundle and you have clicked the button. You haven't informed yourself before clicking it. This was dumb and imbecile. The only thing that is pathetic here is how you are whining about YOUR OWN MISTAKE and then blame others for it.

There are people here in this thread who haven't claimed the bundle, but support the reason why GOG is having this giveaway. They have informed themselves about it before they clicked anything.

It is solely your own fault that you have now games in your account which you don't want. You can continue your internet drama here. Nothing will change this.

It was your own fault.

And your "think of the children" argument is just nonsense because it is bumper sticker logic.
