Fumarata: Was getting the same error as OP. I open up GOG, it runs for about 5-10 seconds then Galaxy Communication Service error appears and I'm forced to close the program.

Potential solution: uninstalled and reinstalled GOG Galaxy. Noticed mid installation that it said "GalaxyCommunicationService.exe" was still running (even after I uninstalled Galaxy). I closed it via Task Manager and continued installing. I'm currently running the Galaxy client and it hasn't crashed so far.
Brilliant! I didn't try to reinstall GOG, but after the shutdown error, I checked the Task Manager and the communication service was still running. I just closed it and ran the app again, and no error this time. It might be just a temporary solution, will have to see in the future.

As metioned, it is normal for the communication service to be running for a while, after closing gog. So I don't know how this works. This error also showed up for me from nowhere, I hadn't installed anything new on the pc, one day it was fine, next day this error out of nowhere. As I said before, I just closed the service once, and for me, that did it.

bteapot: I've noticed that ~/Library/Application\ Support/GOG.com/ has a root owner.
Changed it to myself, removed Galaxy subfolder, reinstalled GOG Galaxy.
This worked for me too, hooray!
(first post just to say this :D)
Hmm... I use my Gaming-PC only via RDP (or Gamestream or Steam in-home streaming) and GOG Galaxy simply doesn't. Work. I love the platform - but since it's a remote access bug it's completely unusable for me. :(
Hope this gets fixed soon. Running 1.2.51.30, still can't run Galaxy when connected to the computer via RDP.
