Since the latest GOG update I've got the same error over and over everytime I try to launch GOG Galaxy 1.2.6:

"Connection to GOG Galaxy Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown."

I've tried by uninstalling and reinstalling GOG Galaxy, for which I had to uninstall all of my GOG games. And still it doesn't work.

Any help?
Thank you.

It looks like the issue is due to launching the service over Remote Desktop. It is in my case at least. Is it the same for you?

They are currently troubleshooting this issue... posting a bug report may help. If you are using remote desktop, that is a known cause and it's currently not supported. But if you aren't then please do the following:

== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

* Note: ProgramData is hidden by default, must show hidden folders.

You probably shouldn't have fiddled with those dormant SecuROM files. ;P

Being able to use Galaxy over RDP is quite useful to me because that's how I manage my computers at home. It has worked before. I just found this thread because I got the same error (over RDP). Please, please try to fix it ASAP.
If anyone else has this issue, it could be a firewall issue. I say this because it was for me (for whatever reason mine blocked Gog Galaxy out of nowhere) and fixing that resolved the connectivity issue.

Hope this helps someone, RDP or not (I don't use RDP myself).
+1

Getting this error when connecting over RDP. No issue when running locally.
Solution for me and mine error was uncheck "run as administrator" GalaxyComunnication.exe in folder C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\. Try too check permissions of this folder/s. BTW any GOG process running like admin crashes on W10 insider.
I also have this problem but I don't use RDP and do not use admin rights on GOG exe files (and neither they had it when I checked them). I hope it can be fixed soon.
Same error here, and I am using RDP to connect to my download server. I will try again when I'm at home and see if running this locally solves the problem.
I hope this issue and all others with Galaxy get fixed soon, but I also think it shows that keeping the client optional is a really good thing. Just imagine everyone had to use it and then those affected would need to wait for a fix. As it is currently they can at least work around by not using Galaxy.
Looks like I am also affected by this issue. Curiously only one one of my machines, I have an old WIn 8 laptop which works fine, but a win 7 desktop, which I recall having issues with Galaxy to begin with but am not sure how I resolved them, is crashing the galaxycommunication.exe program.

It sucks as I setup the desktop Galaxy client to gift my son a GWENT beta key - but without this service running, the overlay doesn't work, hence no match against a friend option. Not sure how I can resolve it..
I'm rather irked by this. Up until about a month ago the client worked perfectly fine via Remote Desktop. They seem to have chosen to specifically block it for some reason.
Yep same here. can only run games executables now....

Not running Remote desktop.....checked a couple posts tried a number of things but to no avail.
