== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

MarkoH01: Calling Overlay on The Witcher: Enhanced Edition breaks mouse control.
avatar
skeletonbow: Thanks, I've added it to the overlay tracker thread:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_what_games_did_just_galaxy_overlay_support_work_with_thread/post62
Since you are testing th e overlay in such an extend - would you also say that the overlay costs performance, especially in games that are very demanding and which do need every bit of available performance like Witcher 3?

The overlay shouldn't really affect performance at all really, it isn't part of the game so doesn't affect the game's graphic loop really. It's basically a separate image overlaid on top of the game's framebuffer that the game is completely unaware of.

Not to mention that the overlay is only doing anything at all - after you press the key to activate it, otherwise it is not even doing anything. If you do bring up the overlay, it's a simple 2D graphical image overlaid on top of the game graphics, but you're no longer playing the game now you're inside the overlay and either the game is on pause, or you can't interact with it while the overlay is up and visible anyway. Even if the overlay had some non-negligible overhead while it is actually active - who cares what your framerate is for a game that you can't even see because the overlay is active? :)

In all sincerity, If someone is experiencing a performance problem playing a game, it's most likely because their GPU and or CPU is a piece of crap and it's time for an upgrade. If they're blaming it on Galaxy's overlay, it's because they don't want to admit their CPU/GPU is a piece of crap so they're grasping at straws to find something else to blame it on.

That is like someone complaining that their electric bill is going to be extremely high because their roommate leaves the light on on the bathroom sometimes, while the person who owns the house runs 2 refrigerators and two deep freezers made in the 1990s and leaves the electric heat cranked on with the windows open in the winter.

This is what we call grasping at straws, let's be honest here. :)

Not true. You completely missed out the fact that the overlay service is remaining in memory the whole time also accessing the CPU. Also I played through the whole Witcher 3 game without any big performance issues using the old Galaxy and now when I use the new one my GPU has turned to crap - interesting.

Yeah, the overlay is a separate process that injects itself into the game. It really shouldn't cause any performance issues so if you are actually experiencing a legitimate performance problem that isn't present when the overlay is completely disabled then I'd suggest filing a bug report with Galaxy logs attached so they can investigate it. I have not personally seen any performance issues with any games using the overlay however, but I have encountered and reported quite a number of bugs over time during 1.1.x timeframe. Haven't encountered any major issues with 1.2.x yet however.

Under normal proper working circumstances any kind of in-game overlay software should have negligible impact on any game's performance however. That's certainly been my experience over time anyway.

I do agree that it SHOULD not have any noticeable performance issues but I just tried it again and I am quite sure that the game runs much better with overlay disabled - it also closes properly without having to kill the witcher3.exe task manually. Somethings wrong here. However Johny already asked me via chat so GOG should be aware of this. I was just curious if I am the only one experiencing performance issues in demanding games like W3.

Hrm, yeah if the game process hangs in the background and never exits that would normally be a bug in the game, but if it only does that when the overlay is active then it is most likely a bug in the overlay software. I've had things like that occur before quite some time ago although I don't remember what game it was with.

Hopefully they can sort it out for you in the next update though, especially with the flagship game. :)
Okay this having to wait 3 - 5 min for Galaxy to let me install a game is getting old. All it does is spin and spin and spin trying to query everything like download size, and the TOS. Sometimes it's quick, but most of the time it is so damn slow.

My internet is not running slow or anything so I'm not sure why it is taking so long. Though my internet does have higher latency (PING about 640ms) due to being satellite, but I don't think that is the cause. Seems like something is causing this process to be bogged down big time.

Anything odd show up in the logs?

Well I really should clear them and try to reproduce the issue, as there is a lot to go through and it's hard to find specific errors related to this, but quickly glancing through them I do see some errors related to HTTP request which leads to a time out. There are also a butch of 404 errors when Galaxy is trying to confirm game ownership.

---

Another issue found... small UI text overflow on the new chat when someone is playing a game. Part of it was also not in English, which the client is set as. Not sure why that is, but will report on mantis. Blocked name for user privacy.

There seems to be the problem with syncing cloud saves... if there are non. Or does it suppose to take so much time now? I am instaling HoMM3 and for few minutes already it's 'mawing' and syncing cloud saves. For something like 10 minutes now and still nothing. And previously it happend with NWN1. In both cases I turned off the cloud save, closed Galaxy to end this spiral and launched it again. Is this feature not ready yet, or is it just me/my Galaxy being shy?

EDIT: OK, now I see my other instalations failed thanks to this... but it's all back to 'queue'. Well, I'm glad it didn't break. :D

I'm still on 1.1.30. Is there no auto-update to 1.2?

You have to enable preview updates, 1.2 has not be released publically yet. That won't happen until sometime later this month.
Wasn't it said to be released in early April? I think nobody talked about 1st April.

You are not alone. At the moment I would say cloud saving nearly is unusuable. They already did some performance fixes but by far not enough. First upload to the cloud takes minutes and even without saving anything (just entering and leaviong the game) the synching often takes much too long. Much work to do here imo.

You are correct as you can see here:

"The GOG Galaxy Update 1.2 is available today to users who opted to test upcoming updates, and will be rolling out to everyone in April."

Well... not sure if I should, but I'm happy I'm not the only one. Thanks for the info. :)
