== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

bonbadil.350: The download link seems to be for the version 1.1.30.5. Can't find download URL for the new version.
BTW, it's great GOG allow to launch games even without Galaxy.
There is no direct download for 1.2 since that is only a preview option. So just enable pre-view updates, close the client, then wait for 5-10 minutes before restarting it and it should update. The reason for the wait time is that the client has some time limit for checking for updates repeatedly (at least it had been like this in previous version).

You'll have to deinstall the old version and reinstall the one I posted the link to. This version you will be able to run and therefore you can enable the update to go back to 1.2.

skeletonbow: If you exit a game back to Galaxy and the greyed out button doesn't restore to the green play button it usually means that the game process never actually exited even if it is not showing anywhere visible on the screen or task bar. Fire up Windows Task Manager and look for the game executable. Wait a brief period to see if it exits on its own, and if not then you can consider forcibly killing it. Then Galaxy should detect it is not running and make the button available again.

If the game executable is not running in the process list however, that's another story.
I tried it and you were correct. Witcher3.exe was still listed as running process - closing it did turn the play button to green again. However I never had this problem with the old Galaxy (I meaning the problem of Witcher 3 not closing correctly) in all my 200 hours of playtime. Maybe there is a connection?

Since cloud saving is very slow for me (and I also suspect it to eat performance while gaming) I tuned it off and played without it. Now I wanted to upload my saves to the cloud so I tuned it back on with ne never files on my HDD and old storage on cloud. It takes about a minute (for 400MB oif savegames) until Galaxy realized it can't auto sync and asks me if I want to use the cloud files or the files on my HDD. I chose my local HDD and then ... semingly nothing. After three(!) additional minutes the game starts - which imo is much too long. I immediately quit the game and ... nothing - play button greyed out. Had to close witcher3.exe manually and then thesynching process takes another >1 minute. Sorry but this way the cloud saving feature is useless for me. I want to play and not wait for my saves to be synced for minutes.

Quite probably I think. I'm seeing some games crash and burn with Galaxy 1.2 launching them also. It must be related to the overlay, as I can't think of any other technical reason why a game would become unstable just from being launched by 1.2

Yes, that sounds logical. Hopefully GOG will tweak the client to make these issues disappear and make cloud saving quicker. At the moment I am about to reinstall the old Galaxy because I had less problems with it.
Datapoints: Fallout Classic and Fallout 2 Classic used to work with the Galaxy 1.1.x preview injected overly last summer, however they no longer work in 1.2.x, including trying them with all of the various hacks and tricks gleaned during the testing phase. I've added them to my overlay tracker thread but thought I'd mention it here also because: Fallout

I can't wait for, the ability to launch a different .exe file by default. Huzzah.
Is there a reason Galaxy automatically creates an empty folder per game for screenshots even if you haven't taken a screenshot? Is the an oversight / bug? Seems like this could create a butch of unnecessary empty folders making it harder to find the folder / pictures you actually want.

Hijin25.948: I have noticed that this latest version of the client takes a long time to open. Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes it was one of the things I mentioned in my post of what GOG needs to look at before this thing leaves beta. I still, however, can't believe they are actually taking this out of beta in less than a month when it is clearly not ready.

I'm very happy with 1.2 (the Galaxy team did an amazing job with this update regardless of how long it took), I really am but I'm afraid Galaxy isn't ready to leave beta. I think GOG is making a mistake pushing this as a released version so soon. I understood pushing Galaxy from alpha to beta because of the Witcher 3, even though it wasn't ready... we don't have the same need now. If you ask me, we just now truly entered beta with this update.

Anyway some things that should be looked at before that happens:

- Option to actually close Galaxy using "X" like there was before the update.
- Rebindable Key for the screenshot feature.
- Rebindable Key to open the overlay.
- Galaxy seems to take longer to start up, I assume it's related how Galaxy was changed to handle updates in the background. It was long enough to make me wonder if Galaxy was actually starting.
- Add an way to abort cloud saves from uploading/downloading, if something happens you can't get out of it (it would also be nice if you could configure cloud saves on a game by game basis like updates).
- Galaxy NEEDS to be optimized when installing games, sometimes I've had to sit for nearly 5 min waiting for Galaxy to retrieve the download size, License Agreement, etc. Sometimes this gets boggled down, I assume while it's trying to query all this information from the server. To say this is a pain is an understatement
- As I said before the code for offline, needs to be looked at. I can't tell how many times I get a blue connect button telling me Galaxy is offline, when Galaxy is online and the internet is fine. I click one game page it's fine, I click another and it's telling me Galaxy is offline. Galaxy also takes forever to re-connect if connection is lost, regardless of how many times "connect" is pressed.
- General bug fixes, I strongly recommend the Galaxy team takes a week or two doing nothing but fixing bugs. Even Microsoft has bug bashes, this is a good thing. I can't tell you how many non-critical but problematic bugs I experience nearly everyday with Galaxy. Way to many for a release version, I just assumed most would be ironed in beta.

Other than that, it would also be nice to get what I call "Quality of Life" improvements before moving Galaxy out of beta such as:

- Replace the standard Windows framework around Galaxy, for standard programs it's fine but for something like Galaxy it looks more professional to come up with something that matches the aesthetics of the Galaxy UI.
- Replace the Galaxy Logo menu system. As stated before it doesn't look good, but beyond that it isn't obvious to new Galaxy users that it contains a drop down menu. I have seen many questions from people who can't even find settings in Galaxy because of how hidden you have it. The old system Galaxy used was much better than that and more obvious from a user stand point. I strongly suggest going back to something similar to that or better yet do what 99% of other programs do and add an actual menu bar, perhaps even directly into the titlebar similar to Steam. When in doubt always always follow KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid).
- General UI improvements, simple things like replacing STORE, LIBRARY with STORE, LIBRARY, SUPPORT, COMMUNITY. Remove the GOG Galaxy link from STORE... we know what we are using. It's unnecessary.

I realize probably none of this will be done, but I think it needed to be said. If Galaxy is seriously leaving beta then this stuff should be done before that happens.

Before 1.2.x leaves beta, they really need to make the game download directory configurable again as it was in 1.1.x. That is a major regression for myself and many other users which makes using Galaxy as a backup download client completely unusable. I'm back using GOG Downloader again for now and if it breaks, I'll be back to using the website manually. Very frustrating.

The directory where screenshots are stored should also be user-configurable. I'm ok with the default location personally but I've seen complaints from others on the forums and in discord who are not happy about it.
Any news about the Linux release?
