== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Sasiad133: I have problem with share my logs because:

Logs location:
On Windows Vista or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs

I havent no one from this locations (I have Windows 8.1). Its hard situation :/
Are you sure that c:\ProgramData doesn't exist? It's a hidden directory. Have you configured Windows to show hidden directories?

Look here to learn how to do it. Instructions are for Win7 though, but it should be similar on Win8.
Thank you very much :)
Galaxy really should stop adding start menu entrys everytime it finds a game ALREADY INSTALLED on my HDD. I don't want start menu entrys if I use Galaxy - that's what Glaxy should be for. And if I cannot turn this off while installing pleas at least turn it off if Galaxy finds a game which I installed and already deleted the start menu entry.
Just installed the latest Galaxy client. Got the client to scan my already installed games, found them all except Banished.
The client checks the games it has found and then my harddisk goes berserk during this checking process. Closed the antivirus software and malwarebytes, but system.exe (process ID 4) keeps doing 19-20 MB/s, it really does sound very unhealthy.

Anyone else ran into this as well?

just noticed checking The Witcher 3 did not give any problem.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms took forever to complete.

I have to agree. Create start menu once on install but not for every update. That's a pain.

i posted several times about this, since the avp2000 release, but it seems that we're an unimportant minority

I wouldn't take it personally. As issues roll in and the work continues priorities are repeatedly assessed and assigned to active bugs as well as priority engineering time to complete features in a project like this. The fact than an inconvenience thing takes a long time to get worked on does not mean in any way that the bug is unimportant to them or that you are. It just means that given the hundreds of issues in the queue along with ongoing development and new issues cropping up things take time.

This software isn't a release quality product. It's a test version indefinitely until it is finished and out of beta. Then the work begins on the next version, outstanding known bugs at release, etc.

It will improve greatly over time I think.
GOG Galaxy needs a better looking icon/tray icon.

Seriously though, a pink circle with barely readable letters for "gog com" crammed in it isn't doing it for me from an art perspective. Steam and Origin both have cool looking icons. You guys need to get a artist to come up with an iconic symbol representing a galaxy..

That's an interesting point. There's lots of potential here, but I'm sure GOG's priorities lie elsewhere, at least for now.
I couldn't find this issue here so I would like to ask a question.
Today when i launched the Witcher 3 I received an error saying: "GalaxyCommunicationService has stopped working". As far as I know I can play the game normally but I don't know if it affects it somehow. Has anybody got this error before and maybe knows how to solve it?

Same issue. After getting patched to last version of GOGG my ClientCommunication.exe statrs to crash whenever I launch W3. Also I get odd noises from my CPU fan while in game menu it fades away after I resume game. I've already tried to reinstall GOGG and game client nothing helped. Gonna add an issue ticket on mantis.

UPD: Also I can no longer launch a game with Steam overlay. It just doesnt start under the Steam.

Today suddenly I started to lose free space on basic partition, in rate about 10MB per 1-2 second. After investigation, it seems that GOG Galaxy was to blame. In folder C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage there was several subfolders, and two of them has over 35GB each. No idea what Gog Galaxy was trying to acomplish, but I closed it and deleted whole 'storage' directory. After Galaxy restart and rescan games folder, everything seems fine. Three questions thought:

1. My game folder is outside system partition. Gog is on system, but I would prefer it to download its temporary/update files outside. Can I setup Galaxy this way?
2. Don't think it is 100% reproducible, but I can upload my logs folder for check (about 50 MB). Will it be neccessary?
3. Will GOG take responsibility, if this behaviour would damage SSD drive by massive write operation by GOG Galaxy?

Look at the settings dialog of Galaxy (the cog wheel icon on the bottom left edge of the Galaxy window). You can specify different folder for game installations and for downloads.

Please read the very first post in this thread of how/where to do it (hint: http://mantis.gog.com)

Unless Galaxy is writing huge amounts of data to the SDD constantly every second for months and months without a single break, then no. You can't make GOG responsible for having a crappy SSD that dies after a few 100GB have been written to it. Either blame the vendor who sold you such a crappy SDD without clearly advertising it as such. Or, if the vendor of the SDD clearly advertised the SDD as one being unable to handle even a small amount of write accesses (for a storage medium, hundreds of GB of writes are just that: small amounts) or having dysfunctional wear leveling, then it is entirely your own responsibility when still using such a device to make explicitly sure that writes cannot happen to this device (you know, by setting proper folder permissions denying write accesses...) Application programs are not obliged and neither capable to check if your storage hardware is too impotent to handle write accesses...

Actually I was looking more for developer-level dirty hack, like hidden .ini line, command-line parameter or something. Separate folders set in program properties are not for GOG Galaxy itself but for games.

Maybe 100G once isn't big deal, but 100G daily for a month would be significant. I will be using Galaxy for more than a month. I would like to avoid writing 100G of data daily either way. :)

No way this is normal behavior. My storage folder is ~6MB and my log files are only 4MB too. You should definitely report the bug.
