The bell rings 10am; the morning is passing. Discussions were mostly peaceful until Krypsyn whipped a magic belt out of nowhere and slapped it around Agentcarr, with surprising results. Agent begs the guards to take a shot, but the revolver was in another castle and empty besides.

Then Drealmer shows up, concerned about killing and hinting at potential charms to be had. Quad displays concern about flub's sudden attention.

[Side note: Between the belt (which is just for fun) and the possibility of players being characters of opposite gender, any gender references I make will refer to the player's gender (as I know it, and I think all the players are male this game). Please be advised that this disclaimer should NOT be interpreted as confirming/denying any player's claimed gender. I'm not dodging around that possible issue for the next month; flavor writing is going to take long enough as it is.]

With the continued absence of Liftrasil, and the failure of the guards to find either of the other residents before they turned up on their own, the mayor considers hiring some other firm to provide searching services in the future.

Gentlemen, an issue has come up.

I haven't seen any sign of Lift, and it has been nearly 2 days since the game started. He isn't a flake if he has any choice in the matter, but I don't know how long to wait for him.

I plan to give him until tomorrow's standard vote count (roughly 24 hours from now) to display some sign or message, then out of fairness to the rest of you I am inclined to replace him if there has been no word. If I can get any word from/about him, then I'll take it into consideration as I decide what to do.

If anyone cares to voice an opinion on this, please do so. This particular discussion I would like to move to the sign up thread, however, since it is outside the scope of actually playing the game.

drealmer7: It's nice to see things have settled down a bit.
It's become too quiet. Also roleclaim, I'm just a regular townperson and am not a threat to anyone. I'm not an assassin.
avatar
QuadrAlien: depending on the setting, even such a thing as a name early on can be considered useful information, and alas, it's often for the Mafia side - or, as I believe the sign-up thread stated, sides. It gives them ideas of who you might be, and as they'll have a few examples of names it might suggest what role you might have.
avatar
drealmer7: But do you consider that to hold true for this setting and this particular instance? It sounds like a generality to me and that doesn't really serve anything useful here. Do you think me telling everyone my name actually was useful for the bad guys? I didn't think it was, that's why I thought it was okay to do. It seemed civil and the right way to be for the circumstance we are in.
An interesting question, though under the circumstances I'd say there may well be more people to whom the information might be useful, given this is a little more "every man for himself". What I'm wondering in this case is the people who jumped to the conclusion of Jayne from Firefly, despite the rest of your post certainly implying your character was female - especially as they both appeared to have a change of vote in the same post. That said, I cannot say for certain that Flubbucket's vote moving away was related or if he was simply trying to get Lift in here.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it. I'm just trying to get a feel for how this game is designed.

I'm thinking it was this, but I don't want to put words in my mouth.

What was the point in this? How does role claiming benefit town in the slightest?

Soooo...

How much longer do we want to stand around staring at each other? Yogsloth is getting bored and we can't have that, can we?

Well, he can join and we can lynch him, so he won't be bored anymore, and we can then go back to our usual selves ;)

Then we accuse people of pushing for that lynch because they knew what yog's alignment was, or not pushing for his lynch for the same reason. As I said, back to our usual selves :)
Forum glitch, grrr...

Help! There I am away for a bit and you already have filled 7 pages! This will take some time to catch up.

I can understand wanting to move things along, but the only people that a roleclaim will help at this point is scum.

Also due to this:

Bookwyrm627: The assassin's guild had experienced a split at some point, and the war was finally reaching this peaceful place. The residents demanded the town council do something, so a small mercenary group was hired to help deal with the problem.
I'm fairly certain there's more than one scum faction, so the scum most likely don't know who's town and who's scum, and claiming town would paint a big red X over your head.

However...I'm not sure if we should necessarily lynch you or not, because even though claiming isn't very bright, it doesn't really seem scummy (I mean...the only outcome I can see to claiming at this point, is a lynch because it's anti-town. So if you're scum, why would you do that?) Unless your goal in the game is to die, in which case we STILL shouldn't lynch you.

So....those are my thoughts on this. What do you people think?
Sorry by the way for disappearing in that fashion. I had a family issue to solve and had no internet access. Sorry for not notifying you before driving off - but things were a bit hectic. Everything is OK now, so I can start participating.

And there is already a red flag. While I can understand Pilot's reasoning for not lynching Hunter over this claim, I don't agree with them. I have a hard time believing this 'just a regular townperson' ... I was under the impression that we all have special win conditions. The OP even said so. So no one is 'just a regular townperson'. This means, this claim was false. Maybe it was just unfortunately worded. But to me at the moment it looks like a lie and I am a firm believer in lynching all liars. Lying always benefits scum! ... so maybe this is even scum trying to look participating "Hey look at me, I am doing something to move things along."

In any case this is at the moment the best lead we have. And I agree with drealmer, that we should lynch someone today (preferably scum/an assassin). Eventually it may be in our best interest not to lynch on two consecutive days to fulfill the secondary ending condition. But for that we first need to assure that the nights stay murder-free.

Therefore:
vote Hunter65536
I'm ok with lynching Hunter if that's the consensus (I agree that lynch all lairs is a good thing, and any lynch is better than a no lynch as long as there are still night kills). I'm still gonna reserve my vote because of the reasons I post above until I hear more people's opinions though.
