Puny mortals. You think you have defeated me? I will be back more powerful than ever. You could have lived as my slaves. Now you have sealed your fate, for I will come for your souls! You cannot hide, for I see you all!

(hey, I'm evil. I'm permitted a little copyright infringement!)
After what seemed like far too little time, but with one accord, the party all roused themselves from whatever campsites they had managed to build for the night, and came together once more.

As if on cue, with a BAMF and smell of Sulphur, yogsloth popped back in.

He looked harrowed.

“I have been researching for hours in the Order Library. The creature who traveled with us was undoubtedly Zarthax The Terrible himself, born into a mortal guise in order to hide himself. Surely he sought to reach the Crack of Dangit intact and seize The Ring for himself. That would have been… very very bad. It is most fortunate for us that he has been banished. Of course, he will never truly die… but certainly that was a very, very close call for us.”

He straightened his robes a bit and continued, “We must press on. We are very close to the chasm now. It will take all of us together to make it alive. I will not know how we will find the will to…” he trailed off, thinking that one over a bit, and then continued, “Sorry, I do not know how the will to will ourselves…” He thought about it again. “Look, dammit all, we just have to do this thing, okay? We desperately need the tracker to help us navigate the passageways again. Lailia, step up please.”

Nobody moved.

The wizard closed his eyes and thumped his head against his staff. “He’s dead, isn’t he?”

Yes. Yes, he was. They found him by his campsite, his chest opened to the spine, most of his organs having made a hasty retreat onto the wall behind him.

“Fine, that’s just fine. Fine. Of course that’s fine,” spoke the wizard in a hollow monotone. “Here we go. Crystal, do your thing.”

Screaming, moaning, etc. etc., the crystal spoke:

dedoporno is dead, he was: Lailia Sharpeye, Elf Archer (TOWN TRACKER) STR 4 / AGI 2 / CHR 4 / INT 7

“I will have to lead us myself,” growled the Wizard. “Somebody grab the hobbit’s body, please.”

Nobody moved.

The wizard closed his eyes again, and brought his staff to his brow. “You (thump) forgot (thump) the hobbit’s (thump) body (thump)… didn’t you? (thump thump thump thump)”

Everyone looked at bler. “What?!?” he yelled.

The wizard, furious (and now with a lump swelling up on his forehead), blinked out of existence. A moment later, he blinked back in, holding a dagger in one hand and a freshly-hewn finger in the other. “I’ll just hold it, OK? Now march. MARCH!”

And the party moved forward, terrified, but motivated.

“You still have to find the murderers, you know! We can’t very well get to the chasm with them still about can we? Get to it!!!”

Despite the wizard’s admonition, they marched silently. Finally, someone whispered, “You mean we could have just cut off the finger in the first dang place?”

IT IS NOW DAY.

All votes are reset, so enjoy yourselves.

Well, I'm still counting Lift as a win. Might not be big enough to save the game, however. So down to business-

Hitting the tracker over me either means,

A) I'm not town (though I am), or
B) at least part of my theory is right that scum have some role cover, so dedo was the bigger threat, esp. as the pool narrowed. The risk of being seen on an NK would be hard to bluff out of, whereas a goon might be invisible to me, or scum otherwise have roles that blend well enough to bluff (as Lift tried to).

If there is a doctor/guardian in play (which we didn't resolve D3), curious why they didn't opt for dedo unless they suspected he was scum. Or perhaps guarded him N2 and couldn't repeat. But water under the bridge at this point - that's a rhetorical question. Alternative hypothesis perhaps being that there isn't one after all. Which would be too bad.

Beyond that, I made a bad call on my own night action. Second guessed my own advice and zagged after saying we should zig. So I didn't hit JMich. Lift flipping neutral (though totally evil) threw me a bit, and made me question my read even if it still fit my theory.

So I re-read all of JMich's posts, and my read was that we were just disagreeing on risk assessment. But then, other than jumping on Trent for LAL (he followed Wyrm's lead there but was more tight-lipped) he's been quiet since Day 1. His most open post was his case for Lift that he then moved off of 15 minutes later, and otherwise he hasn't really committed to much.

Re-read all of two other players as well and then basically flipped a coin on JMich vs _____. So I have info on QA from N1 + _____ from N3.

Of the two, I'm more curious what, if anything, QA has to say. Didn't say much at all as the D3 deadline approached. It was a Leslie Nielsen moment.. My personal feeling is QA has to claim today, but at least for god's sake say something. Or I will.

JMich also punted in D3, and said he would share his reads at the start of D4. So here we are. Share. Otherwise I'm inclined to agree with Wyrm.

Also, I'm still assuming CSP was allied with Lift (both flavor and role integration after that flip), but I suspect CSP doesn't have an NK, probably much like JMich last game. Not sure what his win condition would be now. Not to say I wouldn't vote CSP today, but I think if he flips neutral we lose, so I'd prefer something stronger. If CSP wants to come clean and talk about what his win condition is, it's not to say I'd believe it, but I'd give it fair consideration.

If someone else wants to talk, by all means, but those are the 3 I think we need to hear from most.
Quick correction - I of course *had* info on CSP from N2 as well, but since everything I know was claimed out already it didn't seem worth mentioning.

Since I've said I didn't target JMich and there was no point targeting dedo as he was pretty clearly a tracker, that obviously leaves my actual target as Hijack/Leonard/Wyrm in some order. For the time being if I have any town cred left, I'd ask that the three of you not share which one I visited. Leave some mystery.

I would be very curious to know who had something stolen, however. If CSP wants to give us a stats update on whomever he targeted, that's swell too.

And with that I think I'm going to bed. Not sure what my availability is Sunday, but will at least try and check in in the morning.
Stupid 10 minute delay - obvs. for Hijack/Leonard/Wyrm keeping my move secret for now also means not saying if you weren't visited by me (bag searched, nothing taken).

If you were brain-raped or robbed, by all means, go ahead and share that.

As an aside, given Hijack's RL distractions in the latter half of this game, these early flavor posts by Yog are even funnier in retrospect.

yogsloth: Off to the side, two of the adventurers were having their own conversation: HijacK, leaning casually against the dungeon wall, was studiously chatting up Sage. After a particularly nonchalant stretch, he continued his efforts. “So I thought after this whole thing was over, maybe me and you could go out sometime.”

“No thank you,” came the curt reply.

“You, know, just hang out maybe. Take in a jousting match or something.”

“No, no thank you.”

Sensing this wasn’t quite working, a few conflicting ideas rolled across Hijack’s brain like angry horsemen. Finally, one of them won out, and he changed tactics:

“Hey baby, are your wings broken?”

Sage cupped her face in her hands. “Oh god. Why me? Why me, god?”

“Cuz it looks like you fell from heaven and landed on your face!” beamed HijacK triumphantly.

“I’m arming myself now.”

yogsloth: “Uh. Thanks, I think I’ll pass on… hang on a minute…” RWarehall glanced down at what he was wearing. He flexed his legs in the warrior princess miniskirt, and paused to rap his knuckles on the steel brassiere. “Well that’s… unexpected.”

Hijack shrugged. “I’d still hit it.”
Now I'm REALLY logging out.
For some reason I found umbrellas in the dungeon.
It's up to you now!

I have the town win condition that is expressed in the OP of this thread. Whether you choose to believe it or not, I am a townie.

Also, I can't see why you won't just share the information you have from your night action.

I investigated Leonard03 last night because of my previously stated suspicion of him. He has been, to my mind a little off all game. His stats are STR 5/ AGI 5/ CHR 5/ INT 5, which is obviously a little disconcerting in light of Lifthrasil's evil blandness.

HijacK: Umbrellas you say? I made a rather wonderful box house of used refrigerator boxes (I'm not joking).

To be serious for a moment: I believe you to be a Mafia Strongman because of your high STR stat. What do you have to say in refutation to that?

Leonard & Quadr: I'd like to hear from you two sometime soon. Basically whatever you want, but please do try to be a little more active today.
Seems like we do find ourselves at LYLO, and seems like we would even with a no lynch. Still, first question, and important one: Was anyone protected on N2 or N3? Because it does seem like Lift lied about it, to cause trent's lynch.
To correct my above post, I meant to write,"He has been, to my mind, a little off all game."

I also forgot to add that when I investigated Leonard, he seemed almost as if he was not surprised at all at my intrusion into his mind.

CSPVG: What do you have to say in refutation to that?
Simply that you're wrong. My abilities (yes, that's a plural form) are related to strength. Is there anything else you would like?

Also, am I the only one that finds the stat similarities between lift and leo trippy?
Okay, seriously. I'm wondering why the heck we're still working with this wizard guide of ours. He's got a soul eating crystal, he managed to recruit 3-4 killers, including the Embodiment of Evil itself, and now after making us haul cristigale's body around he's gone and cut off the finger to do it himself. I'm seriously thinking maybe we should call this plan off, and figure out something else.

Anyway, I was safe in my sofa cushion fort, but someone dumped my pack out while I was busy, and I no longer have a picture of a young elf maid I once knew.

CSPVG's read certainly implies Leonard might be a follower of Lift. Wasn't it Leonard that followed Lift over to Flub on Day 1? I'm on mobile right now, and I don't feel like trying to check on this device. Of course, with CSPVG's head potentially on the block as default lynch today, it would be no wonder if he tried to push for anyone else.

Lastly, it appears today is going to be a mass claim, whether in name or in essence.
Right, then. First something I'd like to get out of the way. Given the nature of the building material my temporary abode was built out of, all I have to say is "...I'll get you, Yogsloth!" :P

Anyway. It's occurred to me that various bits of PMs may be not quite add up - when I left my bag that night, I hid it in a small crevice between the troll excrement and a wall - if said pack was properly covered by the time Bler came across it, I can only surmise that the pile had... let's say, become unbalanced and fallen on to it. I suspect my substandard intelligence came into play when I chose the spot. (Either that or it means two people have been through my pack, and bringing up that at this stage is surely madness.)

And yes, I said "hid". Why? Because I was off to do pretty much the same thing to Dedoporno that night.

I am Jeremiah Lightfinger, Human Fighter (TOWN COP) STR 6 / AGI 5 / CHR 6 / INT 4. Unfortunately, the title of Cop appears to be a bit of a misnomer, as I have a tendency to take objects. I keep telling myself they're evidence, but quite frankly, between an Elf Direction activity book, a chess set, and most recently a picture of an elf maiden (which, I must say, has some of the worst poetry I have ever read written on the back), it has to be said it's an odd selection at best.

What I do know, is that these items are what make me decide on the player's alignment - Dedo's activity book because... well, no-one with that could possibly be up to no good, Bler's chess set because it's not a favoured game among evil types (admittedly the logic here troubles me a bit, but Town was the read I got), and, in the case of the picture from Bookwyrm, the quality of the poetry is insufficient to be evil, therefore they must be Town. They apparently need to be better poets for the Epic Prophecies Of Evil, otherwise the entire practice is disallowed.

Now desist in your offering of nickels. We have rules against that sort of thing. :)

Well it appears that you are in fact the source of that unpleasant and creepy visit in my mind last night. Those are my stats.

Yes, and also voted to lynch him yesterday...

Back in a couple hours.

I'm a bit in FTSIQ mode, since I went to bed thinking about the game, and then woke from a very pleasant dream at 5:45 to try and puzzle it out.

That said, it occurs to me I may have made a much bigger mistake. I'm inclined to at least consider being wrong about CSP, and also inclined to consider that Lift and now CSP might be right about Hijack.

That's a helpful claim by QA. Whether or not he's telling the truth about his own race and alignment, the rest of it adds up. So even if QA isn't town, he's seemingly confirmed that myself and probably Wyrm are.

Need more from JMich at this point before proceeding I think.
