It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

VanishedOne: I suppose if the staff don't budge we could all go through our bookmarks and bump everything that looks still useful and serviceable. It would make a mess of the forum for a while, but it would save making continuation threads later.

BillyMaysFan59: Should there be a thread for something like "The Campaign to Save Useful Threads?" :P
And should it be saved recursively?
I've passed on your feedback, and here are the arguments in reply to yours:

As for a separate Galaxy sub-forum - as far as I understand it, the only "general discussion" style things are to be for various languages (and for the English-language archive). If a Galaxy sub-forum were to be created, it would need all language versions added as well, and duplicate posts would appear anyway.

As for moving Witcher 3 threads manually - we don't have moderators, and sadly, we don't have bored staff members to do that (although I wish we did!).

And as for the start of the year being a too early cutoff line for discussions, if you stopped a forum conversation for almost half a year, it seems to me like it's likely a new thread would form instead of continuing that old one :)
I'm so beyond confused right now! :P

Ciris: we don't have moderators
Let me apply to become one of them, pro bono ofc. There are many devoted forums users who'd fit for that role.

I admire Judas as he still does that work by himself :-)

Ciris: we will be merging all threads that have not seen a new post in 2015 to a General Discussion Archive, accessible for viewing, but not for further posting or rating posts.
I like the last part. It should cut down on the rep abuse where people hunted old posts to up/down vote. And in turn there should be lest bitching about rep. Win-win!

But I do have a question. What will happen to the topics we have favorite? I have about 30 of them which according to the rule will be moved to the archive. Will those be removed from my favorite list? Or will the links to them be updated automatically?

Here's a nine-month necro I found within seconds: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/pc_metroidvaniasrougelikes/post137

Sometimes new threads form, sometimes the old ones get necro'd. A useful thread may get necro'd repeatedly, especially if people like it enough to bookmark it.

Incidentally, congratulations on having been here for around half a year.

There's over a thousand game discussion boards with only no specific language listed. Why, if you create a Galaxy forum, would there suddenly need to be multiple languages for it?

I'm not even sure why multiple Galaxy forums for each language would be a bad thing.

Sure, people would still post Galaxy questions in the General forum, but it would be nice to at least have a place to direct them to, just like we do when people ask questions about specific games. It wouldn't, couldn't, get rid of everything, but it would definitely improve things notably.

That will happen inevitably anyway since you created a multi-language sub-forum section. It's not so much about saving space as about making easier for users to view threads. I don't see the problem really, you already have one area for different languages and one fore specific games. Why not large topics that keeps getting repeated it in General Discussions as well? I would argue for a Giveaway place too but apparently so many people are against that I leave that out, I use the forum filter anyway.
Ah, well. At least a little less clutter. I wish only gog would finally implement a usefull forum search engine that would actually work.
This is a terrible move. GOG community supports thread necroing quite happily, which is always better than making new ones.

And how will this break our "favorited"? Threads? Many of these I've had there for a LONG time, and they still see (infrequent) posts.

Definitely don't CLOSE the threads against new posts; sure, omit them from indexing and search, maybe...

That's open to debate. Sometimes there are useful purposes, other times people seem to just like to necro because they want to say...

I wouldn't really miss that.

I don't get it, don't we at least deserve an upgrade to the forums? This is not a solution, it's like having an old car full of problems and your solution for it is to buy new tires instead of getting a new car.
No, not again...

What about no new posts since 2013? So a year and five months

I don't understand the train of thought here as anyway, the folks would post in English in "General discussion" about Galaxy stuff. Oh well, GOG logic killed my brain, I'm gonna drown myself in a bowl of cereals.....
