SCPM: Bad news regarding Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, a DRM-free release is up in the air for now:
"We ran into technical issues in our DRM-free development."
"We're still looking into them, but the status of the game is uncertain."

"We ran into technical issues in our DRM-free development."

This is one of those rare moments where even I type that: LOL

Yeah...I think that was the dumbest thing I read this month.

NuffCatnip: Technical issues!? Couldn't they at least come up with a better excuse? :/
avatar
omega64: No.
Shame on them, I wanted a bitter-sweet and heartbreaking story...I'm disappointed. :`(

fortune_p_dawg: yup, technical issues, as in 'signed an exclusivity agreement with valve but can't talk about it.'
avatar
mistermumbles: ...which Valve doesn't do, so that ain't it.
actually come to think of it, has valve or a dev stated that they don't do this? how do we know for certain?

SCPM: "We ran into technical issues in our DRM-free development."
It's always sad when a developer says that.

so far the PC version is Steam only? and this have Multiplayer? So most likely they use the steamworks framework. So they have to either implement a different framework or remove multiplayer (which makes a bit nonsense of the whole "versus".... ) both of which can result in technical problems, depending on implementation. Not to mention any other possible steamwork integration and dependensis which must be dealt with. SO yes, it is a good excuse.

Marioface5: Why would they need a "better excuse"? If they're having technical issues, then they're having technical issues. Stuff happens. Chroma Squad was outdated on GOG for a while because even though the devs sent GOG the update, GOG discovered technical issues with the DRM-free version. It's not unheard of.
avatar
NuffCatnip: They have to implement DRM into the game, getting rid of it again is nothing, they can't tell us they're having problems with that and expect us to believe that.
Do you have any personal experience with this sort of thing? Or are you just assuming that it's super easy and should cause no problems?

Oh well. Here's hoping they will at least release it later. Or, failing that, I will settle for Xanadu Next not running into any technical issues.

The-Business: New company in the catalog: Astragon Entertainment (German website), likely for the game from VIS Games. jiangshanruhua's list contains Bus Simulator, but a different shop mentions it has been developed by someone else.
