dtgreene: I agree, and frankly they'd make me uncomfortable too. I would perhaps instead class those as unsuitable for feminists. Or maybe unsuitable for human beings.

(Had to manuallt add another close quote tag.)

Actually, I would go further and say such games would be unsuitable for robots as well; in other words, such games should not be used as input to maching learning algorithms. (If fed bad training data, a machine learning algorithm can produce very bad results; remember that racist twitter bot that Microsoft (IIRC) unwittingly unleashed?)

HappyPunkPotato: If we're talking pure female stereotype then no games would be suitable since gaming is a guy thing.
I wouldn't say that.

According to a quick Google search:
* 40-50 percent of gamers are women; that's not a small amoutn.
* 70 percent of cell phone gamers are women.

So, saying that gaming is a guy thing is not entirely accurate.

Y'all are being trolled.

Come on now, use your internet spidey sense and don't fall for it.

Merry Christmas!

Of course we are. But somtimes it's fun to feed the troll to see what he does. But sadly this troll doesn't do anything and is just boring.

Not necessarily.

I remember a thread a long time ago in another place where some dude complained about games which have a female protagonist and how it is impossible for him to get immersed into that as he is a man.

I can imagine that at least some women could never play games where you guide some big-muscled dude who is blowing things up, which is what most games are and have always been.

Let's spin the question around.
There have been notable female game designers, like Roberta Williams, Jane Jensen, and whatever.
How many female game designers can you think of, who have designed first person shooters, action games, or racing simulators?

Without googling not so many I have to admit. Kim Swift, Amy Henning, Bonnie Ross come to mind.
Are you assuming some games are not suited for women? On the SJW stake you go! My army is doxing your address as we speak.

Disclaimer: This is satire. You have to disclaim everything nowadays because of what I assume are vanishing brain cells.
First Chuchiel, now this thread.

A few grenades in this forum, I see.

As it stands, I'm on the side of "Play what you will, if it's DOOM, HuniePop, or Barbie's BattleChess. I don't care. It's your life, your computer, your decision. Play it as you will, make of it as you wish.

If you're talking about age specifics, then you might want to strike HuniePop from the list if they're not of age to know what's going on there.

If you are a woman, and wish to stare at a digital woman's bottom. then who am I to stop you from the comfort of your own home?

Now, if you're seeking games which specifically feature a strong female protagonist of character and of body, that's a different can of fish. I'd personally suggest Super Metroid, starring the Amazonian Samus Aran.

Sorry for not being clear. That was my point, PixelBoy said "Being a pirate is a guy dream" so I was trying to point out that stereotypes often aren't useful or true.

Your idea about machine learning is interesting, something I've not thought about before.
On average, women tend to play that are easy and short.

So the list is

Abzu
Bloodrayne
Recent Tomb Raider games (Not the old ones that have exceptional difficulty)
Celeste
Giana Sisters
Gone Home
Life is Strange
Dear Esther
The Park
Ori and the Blind Forest
Firewatch
To the moon
Finding Paradise
A bird story

DTGreene is full of ideas. Be prepared to be at the discussion for a while.

gixgox: All games they want to play.
I like especially those games with scissors....
One of the character classes in Mary Skelter Nightmares wields giant scissors in the portrait (you can also wield scissors, but that doesn't change their appearance).

Edit: In retrospect, I guess you might have been joking. I'll leave this post here, anyway, since MSN is on the one-day-sale list today.

I've heard that a lot of women enjoy the hidden object games... So maybe consider that?
