Man, if i look back. What a failure OOB became.... thought i would do those last couple of maps in a flash but reality turned out different. Even became a turncoat..... The shame ... unbearable. But maybe the loss of honour can be fixed this year!

Lust from Beyond (Steam)

First one for 2024. These developers are getting better with each release. Lust for Darkness was pretty simple and short. The Prologue to Lust from Beyond made a lot of improvements that carried into the main game, plus more. It's actually a decent game in the end. This time it's about two sex cults with a clash of differences. There are main characters whose fate you come to hold in your hands. I played through twice to see both main endings.

Don't accidentally get the "M" version- that's the censored version.

A Vampyre Story, Jan 2 (GOG)-Didn't realize this one has been removed from the store. The game is from 2008 but the graphics make it look even older. It also has a lot of rather cumbersome interface design choices that made playing a bit of a chore including inconsistent button clicks, wonky hit boxes, and very slow character movement to name a few. The puzzles were pretty difficult with a lot of moon logic and bizarre solutions. Plot wasn't bad but the ending felt rushed and ended on a cliffhanger intending a sequel that will probably never come. Maybe that was intentional. The voice acting was good though. Over the top, silly, and cartoony but in a game with this much humor it worked and it was probably the best part of the game.

Pleasantly surprised by this game. At first I thought it's not gonna measure up to some other recent boomer shooters with more production value but as it went on it really cranks up atmosphere and creativity.
