RULES

1. Have fun!

2. No cryptoclaiming (whatever that means, check the Admin thread).

3. No betting among players.

4. The moderator of this game is me, Lifthrasil. Should you need to contact me, you can reach me through the chat system of this forum. You can also write bolded questions to me in the game thread. The assistant moderator position is vacant for now.

5. All players have a vote, which they may place upon any player. An existing vote has to be withdrawn by unvoting before placing another vote. Once a player has more than 50% of the votes, that player will be lynched. No amount of unvoting can prevent a lynch from occurring once a majority is reached. If you don't unvote, only the previously active vote will count.

6. A player may also vote nolynch. A majority of nolynch votes will end the lynch phase without a lynch.

7. Please remember to bold your votes and unvotes like this: unvote Sparkly Fountain, vote Rusty Horseshoe.

8. When you are dead, you are dead - stop posting. A single "bah"-post is permitted and encouraged.

9. If you are not player or moderator please refrain from posting in this thread.

10. Don't edit your posts! This is very important! Editing a post is grounds for being modkilled. Remember that the forum software will consider any post within less than 10+ minutes from the previous one as an edit and will combine them. Accidental one-time vilations will result in some form of entertaining restriction but a repeated offense will not be tolerated. Do your best to avoid this or you will be modkilled and laughed at.

11. Do not discuss the game with anyone outside the thread, except for people specified in your role PM, and then only at such times as the PM specifies. It applies to RL as well. If you know some other player from this game, don't talk to them, do not spy on their roles, PM, quickchats, anything.

12. All players should post at least once every 36 hours. If you expect to be unable to post for longer than this, please notify the mod directly even if you already shared it in the game thread. If your most recent post shows "posted 2 days ago", you will be prodded both by PM and in the thread. Modkill or replacement is possible if the situation warrants.

13. If you can no longer participate in the game, let me know and I will try to find a replacement.

14. All players on the winning team win, even the dead ones, assuming any other win conditions have also been satisfied. Anyone who is modkilled loses, no matter what team he was on.

15. Important: in an effort to avoid the 'Things only happen when the Deadline is imminent' effect, which was particularly strong in the last game, THE DEADLINE WON'T BE ANNOUNCED PRECISELY! Emissions are unpredictable, after all. You will usually get a warning (some rumbling) after which you will have anything between 24 and 48 hours time. Depending on my whim. But if y'all manage to annoy the mod enough, the Emission may even strike completely out of the blue. MUAHAHAHAAA! (OK, the last was a joke. Or was it? ;-) ) Total Day length will be one weekish, give or take a few days. Also depending on activity and player number.

16. Remember it’s just a game. Be polite and remain calm. Anyone not being polite is just trying to get you to make a mistake so they can lynch you. Don’t fall into the trap. Politely lynch them or night kill them for their rudeness.

Return to the Zone

The Clear Sky initiative was successful in extracting the Heart of the Zone from the Zone, against heavy resistance from the Monolith sect. The first effect was immediate: when the Heart was removed, the Zone stopped growing. Now your scientist have spent months studying the Artefact in a secure location and they have found a way to reverse it’s effect. That means, you can now use the Heart to heal the land and reduce make the Zone disappear completely. And that is necessary. Even if it doesn’t grow at the moment, there is still plenty of leakage. Monsters escape the Zone from time to time and radioactive artifacts are smuggled out and are used by unscrupulous persons, spreading cancer and stranger illnesses as a side effect. That will only stop if the Zone is removed. But to do that, you have to enter it one last time and place the Reversed Heat in the Sarcophagus, where your colleagues found it all those months ago. And that’s exactly what you, a group of experienced Clear Sky operatives, set out to do. Together you will bring the Heart back to the Zone and end this nightmare once and for all.

However, as soon as you enter the Zone and take cover for the first Emission, it becomes clear that not everything is as it should be. The Emission knocks you out and when everyone wakes up again, the leader of your expedition, Liv Thrasilik, has been brutally murdered. On his forehead a warning is engraved: “Turn back!” You realize, that this important mission has been infiltrated by the enemies of the Clear Sky initiative. Someone among you, or several someones, have fallen to the Monolith and are trying to prevent the destruction of the Zone. They will kill you, one by one, unless you kill them first. Unfortunately, as the veterans among you know, the only way of knowing if someone has been corrupted by the Monolith, is to have a look at his brain - and out here in the wilderness there is no way of doing that in a non-lethal way!

As if that wasn’t enough, the Heart has become active again and some of you feel changed by the last Emission. The Emission has bestowed some powers on you. But you feel that they are fleeting. No normal human body can retain these for an extended period, so things are likely to change with the next Emission. Still you press on, seeking a path through the Anomalies and always wondering, whom in your group you can trust.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PMs:

Loyalists:
You are [name], a loyal member of the Clear Sky initiative. You have seen the evil that Artifacts from the Zone can do and you know that it is the right thing for the world to remove that threat forever. So you will do everything to bring this mission to a successful end. You will even sacrifice your life, if necessary, since nothing less than the fate of the world is at stake.
Win condition: you win, when all dangers to the mission (i.e. all hostile non-town factions) are eliminated.

Monolith:
You are [name] and the Monolith has spoken to you. It has predicted that this time would come and has sent you as an infiltrator into the midst of the blasphemous Clear Sky initiative. There you have bided your time as a sleeper until they would foolishly bring back the Heart, which they stole. Now is the time to strike. Kill all the infidels, then you can cleanse the Heart and bring it back to make the Zone grow again. For only then the entire world will know peace through the wisdom of the Monolith.
Win condition: you win, when all dangers to the Zone have been eliminated or when nothing can prevent that outcome.

There may or may not be more factions with different win conditions. Perhaps you'll find out. Perhaps not.

ALRIGHT LETS DO THIS! LEEEEROOOOOOOYYYYYY JEEEEENNNNNKKKKKIIINNNNNSSSS!

As I understand it, now ensues the Wild Mass Guessing phase of the game. Since anyone that can come up with this simply must be evil, Vote Sage103082 .

I am, of course, a loyalist, etc. etc. etc.

(Man, now I wish I had a preview button, to make sure this looks right)
Wow. I just have a strong sense of deja-vu!
I'd seen "forum mafia" threads for a little while and they always creeped me out.

but then I saw the first STALKER game and was like "wait, what is this?" and gave it a look and became aware that it was just a harmless forum game where ppl try to kill each other

I saw the STALKER movie a good number of years ago, and thought it was really whacked but good too. I liked other stuff by the same director better but still like it enough to be excited about the games. I started playing the first game a couple years ago at this point really liked it for how little I played it since I got distracted. Now I wish I'd played them, damnit!!!

still, looking forward to it!

I have no familiarity with the other game, perhaps I should go look at it?
Oooh Oooh, I want to guess!!!

My guess is flub is scum again!

Vote flubber

Bookwyrm627: (Man, now I wish I had a preview button, to make sure this looks right)
yeah, preview window is nice

I think you could have had the vote on a separate line for optimal visual aesthetic-ness
I had a N0 investigation and adaliabooks is scum!!

vote adaliabooks

Oh, wait...
I saw the post about the dead thread nightkilling and had a small chuckle since a bastard game I played in the past managed to predict the nightkill correctly every time that game (with 3 scum teams no less)

dedoporno: I had a N0 investigation and adaliabooks is scum!!

vote adaliabooks

Oh, wait...
Are you scum? :P
Lynch all liars...

Vote Dedoporno :)

RWarehall: Lynch all liars...

Vote Dedoporno :)
Where's the lie? Adalia probably is scum.
Ah, the usual chaos. Let's see how long it will last this time.

trentonlf: Are you scum? :P
Сука блять!
humhummmmmm

hopefully ppl just aren't aware it has started yet (I was surprised that it'd started already) and it will just take a day or 2 to get going

In a 9player, everyone needs to be active, NO lurking at all is really acceptable, I think it could have been better to give it another week or so in signups - I think half the notify list probably doesn't check GOG every day. Ixam, leonard, maybe even mchack, AVP, and others. ah well, this gives the variance from the original bigger which I like (I don't personally like FULL OPEN games so much - though they are easier on town for sure)
