I knew there was a reason I liked you. You'll fit right in around here.
For the people who don't understand why it's important to remove the games that don't keep the updates on par with the steam version: Click here

People expect the games to be on par with the Steam version, but DRM-free. The lack of updates leads to a bad reputation for the platform and for the store, much more than not selling some games at all. I'm not necessarily ok with this, but it's just how it works.

Linko90: Everything (2017) has, unfortunately, departed from our catalog. Despite efforts to ensure the GOG version remained up to date with other platforms, both GOG and Double Fine Presents have agreed to delist the game.

For those who currently own Everything, don’t worry, you still (and always will) have access to it.

If you wish to seek a refund for your purchase, please contact support.gog.com.

I'm not sure if you're referring to GOG or Linko90's post. If the latter, Linko is English, and I assume that English is their first language.

amund: This sucks I wanted to buy everything
That's overly ambitious. I settle for something.

Niggles: Can a dev explain to people why it is so hard or time consuming to keep both Steam and Gog versions up to date?.
Maybe they don't like money.

richlind33: It's fortunate for GOG that the entire industry is a joke.
That is the most correct assessment I heard about that guild ever.

Alexim: Necropolis for example is missing the multiplayer despite it being advertised during the pre-order campaign and the fact that it's a fundamental component to fully enjoy the game, therefore is a lack that comes very close to a scam, the same for Offworld Trading Company. This greatly tarnishes the reputation of GOG and it would also be in its interest to take action to resolve the matter in one way or another.
avatar
FrodoBaggins: YOU may enjoy multiplayer, but many of us prefer single player. And we don't consider it a 'fundamental component'. I don't see how not having multiplayer tarnishes GOG's reputation.
Why should we miss out on a game, just because you don't approve?

It's like saying 'I don't like ice cream, so YOU can't have any.'
Of course what he said is his opinion and he's not speaking for a other people. He never said that. You, on the other hand...

Bigs: This fucking sucks... GOG should be more forceful with those pubs / devs that do this... ><
They are now - by removing such stuff and stopping devs getting money for outdated versions of their game.

PainOfSalvation: Can you guys give us 1-2 days start before the game will be pulled from here and not 1 hour or less? I am sure some of us would like to buy something *looking at Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth missed opportunity*. -.-
While I do agree it was a different situation with Cthulhu since GOG was forced to remove it quite quick. In this case however they weren't forced, they agreed. So it's a bit of a mystery why this has not been announced earlier.

And to answer the question from HereForTheBeer: I agree in general but not every update has the same importance to everybody. So it would have been nice that those who don't care about a certain added featue or who are not affected by a certain bug that only hits certain OSes decide by themselves.

Alexim: Although it's never nice to see a game disappear, I also approve of the elimination of incomplete games. I hope they have introduced or will soon introduce a clause requiring developers to keep their games up to date on the platform.

Someone should open a thread to collect bets on the next title to be delisted from GOG!
Quite sure such clause always existed. However it's one thing to have such contracts and a complete different thing to sue those breaching contract.

Either that or way more people have me on JerkMuter than I thought. :D
Nope. Just didn't read the entire thread. I don't use JerkMuter, I ignore the jerks around here on my own.

That is a fair expectation. I still don't understand why publishers/developers have a tough time creating one patch that would work for both releases. To create efficiencies, can't they just place a check at the beginning of the patch to see what version of the game (Steam or DRM-Free) it is being installed on, then move down the appropriate patch path?

Does not seem all that difficult.

Linko90: As mentioned in the original post, it's simply a case of the version not being able to keep up with updates. Both parties came to the mutual agreement to delist the game and offer refunds.

Not the most dramatic story I know!

richlind33: Right, but *why* was the dev not updating the GOG version?
Good question that gets the ignore treatment. A pity.

Linko is not one of the devs, and even if he knew the answer, he might not be allowed to share it (at least, not without being translated into PR-speak beforehand).
Best people to ask would be the devs themselves, or perhaps the publisher. (They may or may not give you an honest, straightforward answer, but nevertheless...)
Nice that you edited the thread title. Heart attacks among gamers have been reduced by 18%.
I actually liked the original thread title very much.
Everything will be delisted from GOG at least gave me some thrill ; )

Just imagine if they ever make a post like "Galaxy will be mandatory" and then they immediately edit it into "Galaxy will never be mandatory" LoL
