Breja: I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know people like to raise hell over unapdated games, and I agree that we should get all the updates... but personally unless it has to do with the game being broken and not working properly (in which case it should not be here anyway), I don't really care much about updates. I'm not going to replay a game because some stuff I will never even notice got slightly improved. So I'd much rather have a chance to buy a DRM-free version without updates than not be able to get it at all.

mechmouse: agreed
Partially agree. I do care about updates, but I generally wait until a game has gone through it major patch cycle before playing it. If we don't get those patches/updates, then I don't really think the game should be sold here.
I think the next to be delisted will be one or more among these:
Perception
Necropolis
Offworld Trading Company
Punch Club
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak
SteamWorld Heist
Bard's Tale, The

They have some serious game breaking bug or missing the multiplayer component when the original game is strongly focused on it.

Tauto: Good grief! I thought you said everything.
lol, same
I would hope that GOG negotiates that all modern released games are continuously updated on GOG. We pay sometimes a tenner more than if released on Steam, which I`m happy to do on GOG, but we want the same updates. Now Patches are fine, I don`t need GOG Galaxy. So if the Devs just send the executable package to GOG, that should be enough- It`s not hard to patch a game yourself.

If Everything Devs broke that agreement then they should delist it. It`s a cheap trick to release a game on GOG then quit your obligations because you`re not getting the sales any more.

A game shouldn't be removed just cos it doesn't have multiplayer.
There's still a huge market for single player games. Many of us don't care about multiplayer. Or achievements, come to that.
It's unfair to remove a game, and prevent those of use that just want a nice, single-player game, without the fluff.

If a game doesn't have multiplayer, and you're into that, just don't buy it.

Bigs: From the itch.io site (I don't have it on itch so I can't dig further)
D'oh... to my defence it's been 36° C here - 7:30PM...

Necropolis for example is missing the multiplayer despite it being advertised during the pre-order campaign and the fact that it's a fundamental component to fully enjoy the game, therefore is a lack that comes very close to a scam, the same for Offworld Trading Company. This greatly tarnishes the reputation of GOG and it would also be in its interest to take action to resolve the matter in one way or another.

Linko90: As mentioned in the original post, it's simply a case of the version not being able to keep up with updates. Both parties came to the mutual agreement to delist the game and offer refunds.

Not the most dramatic story I know!
Oh I see, sorry for the absurd question and thanks for kindly reiterating the initial statement. It's a pity they couldn't keep up.

YOU may enjoy multiplayer, but many of us prefer single player. And we don't consider it a 'fundamental component'. I don't see how not having multiplayer tarnishes GOG's reputation.
Why should we miss out on a game, just because you don't approve?

It's like saying 'I don't like ice cream, so YOU can't have any.'
Thought for a moment there that the monks were back,.... Now I need a cup of tea:)
The first sentence was the clincher that really scared me. My mind completely interpreted it as EVERYTHING from 2017 and before will be delisted from GOG. I was going, "No way!". Till, upon a second reading, I realized that it was just a certain game that goes by the title "Everything".

And my wishlist went down by one yet again.

I agree that multiplayer is ancillary in many games and not necessary, but in this case it isn't a matter of opinion, the multiplayer is a selling point of the game from how the reviews and opinions of those who played the game speak about it.
do not remove the neptunia games. if you do, that is anti consumer. I just bought the first one and plan on buying the others. I know they don't get updates which is why you should demand idea factory to update their game on your platform instead of removing it outright. I don't care about other games that get no updates gettingt removed but if you remove the neptunia games, I'll just go fuck gog and deal with steam and scene groups.

I have 118 games on this site. removing shit people wanna buy regardless if its up to date is anti consumer.

It's not a selling point for everyone.
If you don't want the game because it has no multiplayer, just don't buy it. Simple as that.

Linko90: Everything (2017) has, unfortunately, departed from our catalog. Despite efforts to ensure the GOG version remained up to date with other platforms, both GOG and Double Fine Presents have agreed to delist the game.

For those who currently own Everything, don’t worry, you still (and always will) have access to it.

If you wish to seek a refund for your purchase, please contact support.gog.com.
First I saw the title of this thread and presumed someone was overreacting to something and suggesting that all games in the GOG catalogue would be removed. Perhaps their favourite game was removed or similar and they were emotionally overreacting etc. I didn't pay attention to who posted it though.

Then I read the first post, and seeing it was from a blue I realized it was an official message so my next thought was some form of April Fools Day joke. Looked at the date and... nope. Re-read it and then triggered the thought that "Everything" might be the title of an actual game. Had a chuckle, while recalling memories of The French Monks from years gone by. :)

Good to see you guys still have a sense of humour even if it goes over some people's heads. (You got me for a bit.)

Having said that, while it is sad to see any games departing from the catalogue generally speaking, there are a fair number of games in the store which the developers have released here and then more or less abandoned. They update the Steam version and never or rarely ever update the GOG version which makes many customers who are aware of this very leary of buying GOG versions of newer games which are within their 1st stage support tier where patches are generally produced regularly. People do not want to have an inferior version of a brand new expensive game that never receives patches. It's one of the reasons why I almost never buy brand new game releases and I'm sure I'm not alone.

To date as far as I know GOG has remained silent on the issue leaving us all to make our own decisions without any idea what GOG will do about this real problem. This is the first time I've seen GOG actively try to do something about the problem and I'm happy to see this happening as I think the problem will become much larger as GOG's customer base grows.

It's not good for GOG's core business IMHO if it ends up being seen as the place to buy new releases that never get updated by the developer/publisher. On the other side I can understand why GOG might be hesitant to have publishers/developers make contractual obligations to update their games as it could cause less games to even show up in the store, but on the other side - do we really want games here that the publishers wont commit to the platform in writing?

Anyhow, I'm glad to see that GOG has communicated with a publisher over their game and they've mutually decided to discontinue the title in the store rather than selling an inferior product version here. That is IMHO being responsible and that helps to build more faith in the platform for everyone.

I hope to see GOG do more of this in the future, but more importantly I hope to see more devs/pubs treat the GOG platform with the respect it deserves, and for the releases here to have release quality parity with Steam and other platforms in the future.

Thanks for communicating this with us!
