i've been to some and they r pretty quiet, some u cant find the issue ur having to fix it, then if u make a thread there probably wont get answer for it, end up maybe thread around
No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply
The only other sire i consistently check out is RPGWatch, but i've never posted anything.
It's mainly about news and updates for kickstarters and other new games.

Very seldom.
And mostly just to look if there is some solution to a problem I encountered.

If you're problem is not yet solved on the subforum for that game, you may get quicker answer to a game related problem, if you ask on the general forum (though that also depends on the game in question, how many people own it, etc).

That is - as long as you state clearly of what game you're talking.

A randomly asked question a la "I stand before the tower in the east, but can't open the door..." without any hint on to what game you're talking about, is usually more likely answered with sarcasm and mockery - and rightfully so, as I may add.

"Where is the wizard?" ;-)

I think GOG should make the game specific forums more visible - link them from the game cards, Galaxy etc.

This problem is occuring since about 2-3 years (at least), I admit that I've personally started to be more interested in general forum since "game's forums" became almost dead. And yes, I admit that it's a annoying tendency, that in theory you should post your problems with game on game's forum, but it's very unlikely that you'll obtain some help in it from other user (probably not because nobody knows how to deal with it, but because almost nobody is taking a look into game's forum).
I usually visit the game-specific GOG subforums for these reasons (ie. pretty rarely):

1. To find a solution to a problem I'm having with a game.

2. If I have found some solution to some problem, I go there to make a note of it so that others with the same problem can later see it too.

3. If I want to make sure there are no missing updates or such on the game I am going to buy, just to see if there are such complaints in the subform, or GOG staff messages of new updates to the game.

I do! I have marked the subforums I'm the most interested in as favorites so I can easily check if there are new posts.

Granted, they are not very active but I have managed to have interesting discussions and solve problems (both mine and from other people; whenever I can help I am glad to be useful to a fellow gamer).

For example, I have already shared three savegame files with people who had lost theirs or had problems with their games. This forces us to be imaginative and resourceful, because the GOG forum software only allows to attach picture files. A possible improvement would be ti allow sharing savefiles.

I also like to share funny or unusual pictures (I've posted a couple of them on the Colonization forum) or start debates / "what if" threads (the Civilization forum is a good place for that; there are also some in the Indiana Jones or The Witcher ones).

I wish there were more people posting there. Maybe GOG could help linking the subforums directly from the game page. Also, to everybody who doesn't post there because there aren't many people posting -break the cycle! Choose your favorite GOG game, pay a visit to the subforum and post some interesting stuff -a question, a debate, ideas, funny experiences, screenshots, help a fellow GOGer in need... You might even like it. ;)

To clarify, it's always possible to go directly to the game's designated subforum from the Galacy Client and your GOG.com library. Once you purchase a game, you can click on More -> Forum and it will redirect you there :)
That aside, thanks for your feedback, I will forward it further.
I agree there's a discoverability issue. I check game specific forums every once in a while but I feel I really have to go out of my way to do that. I once asked for a feature that'd take me to a random subforum: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/new_forum_feature_for_yall_to_vote_on_take_me_to_a_random_game_forum

It could also be useful to have a list of subforums sorted by activity, maybe even with a preview of the recent comments / topics.

Maybe a combination of the two: take me to a random subforum with some activity since I last looked.

These features would significantly reduce the required effort to find a discussion to participate in on one of these forums. Scrolling through a list of 1500 forums sorted alphabetically doesn't work so well. With the current setup it is inevitable that I will miss most of the topics I could help in.

Edit : Misunderstood the question.

Answer is, yes. Often juggling with the subforums ticks, to keep them uptodate with currently playing games.

I'm pretty sure, guys, he's referring to the forums meant for each game on GOG, not other gaming forums...

Anyway, not really. I found that if you reply or make a topic, it won't get responded to until long after the topic's too old to get notifications for. Odds are, no one will respond anyway. Themkin (i can't remember how to spell it and he's not here, yet) is a notable exception: I ran into him a bit on the X series section.
I spend about two thirds of my time in General and the other third in various game forums on here. I lurk the game forums more than I lurk General.
I often pop on the the Steam SFS forum, help educate people about how useless it is, guide them to alternatives.

I used to report those abusing the system , but long since realised Valve doesn't care about people openly abusing the system to get free games.

The op was asking if people spend a lot of time in game specific forums on GOG. Re-read the title ;)

EDIT: Also, I am not Dave (I know it was a joke, just had to respond to said joke <3 )
