CymTyr: The op was asking if people spend a lot of time in game specific forums on GOG. Re-read the title ;)

EDIT: Also, I am not Dave (I know it was a joke, just had to respond to said joke <3 )
That's not the part i don't understand. It's just how does one spend 2/3rd of the time in general, 1/3 in other forums, but then spends most of their time in other forums? My central processor detects a logic error.

BreOl72: A randomly asked question a la "I stand before the tower in the east, but can't open the door..." without any hint on to what game you're talking about, is usually more likely answered with sarcasm and mockery - and rightfully so, as I may add.

I think GOG should make the game specific forums more visible - link them from the game cards, Galaxy etc.
I agree. It annoyed me when they removed the game forum link from the games page in the store. And that was done in the last last website update.
Only for the 3 things timppu said plus checking for any mention of mods/community patches.

The steam game forums are usually much more active (for better and worse).

Removed it? Was it ever in?

I personally mostly use Steam game subforums, particularly for issues. Sometimes Reddit can be a good place for solving issues as well. I do use other gaming forums like ResetEra/Somethingawful but that's more for talking about the game than actual problem solving in most cases mostly because they're just long single threads.

EDIT: Alright going to clarify and hopefully not sound like an asshole.

I lurk more in game specific forums and post more in general discussion. Capiche?

I do visit them fairly often to games i have installed and am playing them.
As part of the process of buying a new game, I add the game's forum to my "favorites" (since gog doesn't provide an easy way to limit the list to owned games). I then use Adalia Fundamentals' sort button to see what's changed, and look at (and mostly ignore) all of them. Long ago, I added a wishlist entry to add a feature to limit the list to owned games, but it's impossible for me to find a low-rated specific wishlist entry, and will not link to it here.

Part of the reason may subforums are quiet is the lack of a convenient way of tracking; the above mothod sort of works, but requires more work than it should (and a custom user script, but I tracked even before the script by just scrolling and looking for white titles). The other part is that when people see the subforum is dead, they keep it that way by posting in general discussion instead.

chandra: To clarify, it's always possible to go directly to the game's designated subforum from the Galacy Client and your GOG.com library. Once you purchase a game, you can click on More -> Forum and it will redirect you there :)
That aside, thanks for your feedback, I will forward it further.
I was all ready to point out that there are a ton of games whose links from their library entry to the "appropriate" forum just point, instead, to General discussion; however, in double-checking my old list of game entries from my own library that have this problem -- as well as checking all the games I've bought since then -- it seems the wrong links have been largely corrected! (The [no-longer-available] Shadwen demo is the only one in my game library that still points to the general forum.) Whatever person/people/gnomes/trolls/GOGbears were responsible, please thank them.

But, yeah, links to the game forums should ideally be made more visible. One on a product's store page, another in the library -- and not hidden under "More" once you've expanded the tile, but under the little pulldown menu visible before you even click the game in your browser library. It makes little sense to me that a link to the store page (which a person should scarcely need to visit after they've bought the game) is there, but the link to the relevant forum requires a couple more clicks to find.

Yup. There used to be forum links right on the game pages but they got removed in previous site updates. It’s aleayd nice when the updates remove features and replace them with nothing.

What? That can't have been long? I've been complaining and checking for that for years :p

Close but no cigar. Sorry I have been busy in real life today.

-----------
I have those subforums I am interested in marked as favourites and try to look once a day on the list looking for new posts.
