Isn't that true for everyone in that thread?

If you reference them as a sort of proof, yes.

Well as far as I'm concerned, they are. In fact, they are the pinnacle objective thinking, the epitome of knowledge, the apogee of logic itself. For you see, you have not proved to be omnipotent until you have called a game overrated.

These days people become omnipotent too easily.
I thought Darkstone was better back in the day. But I only played D2 very briefly. I may give it another go some time. I got it digitally a while back with my old s/n (but I couldn't find the expansion I had, which I also never played).

Diablo seemed too artificial to me. I really liked the 3D objects in Darkstone (Darkstone came out just before D3 and was called "The poor man's Diablo 2" or "A fun distraction before D2 comes out" or something like that by some press).

So, D2 was in 2D and Darkstone was in 3D, which shoudn't make a difference, but it felt more adventurous to me. And the magic spells felt more real.

Anyway, turns out, Diablo 2 aged far better. And I'll have to admit that D2 is a better "game," but every time I think of playing it, I end up playing something else -- often Darkstone.

phaolo: Usually people wasted points in bad skills and ended up weak or even screwed up for next difficulty.

almabrds: He can go to Akara and reset all skill points in a dialogue option, so making mistakes is not the end of the world.
I remember doing this some times in the single player mode.
Two things... That was added in v1.12, and also you can only do it once to my knowledge.

On the other hand I wrote a little program which does the same job... damn that was a while ago but I probably still have it. As for if it will work on above v1.09d I don't know.

What if they say Freddi Fish 2 is overrated, though?

Fairfox: I've never playeded any of these games mentioned. They're good, right?
They're pretty good.

avatar
phaolo: Nice, that was a thing that I never liked about D2 in the past.
But wait.. so, if you screw up your build the fourth time and you become weak, you have to farm all 4 hell bosses to fix it? Absurd O_o
Not really, they need to keep a balance in multiplayer, otherwise there would be people changing builds every day.
In singleplayer, nothing stop you from simply using character editor, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Also, if you screw up your character 3 times, you're super dumb.

Then that's my mistake. I don't play above version 1.09d, so my experience with using it is zero...

A lot of good and bad things happened after 1.09d the bad was the introduction of runewords which wrecked the game balance runewords are better than unique items now, the good parts was better monsters in higher difficulty , respec, removal of cd check and finally synergy of skill points you always get a bonus by investing in the lower tier skills.

The best ones are way too rare for single player, though :\

misteryo: I AM SO EXCITED.
I would use PlugY mod, if I were you. The only change is that it gives a substantially better stash.

While small stash in D1 was okayish (you can leave stuff on the ground lying for ages), its not the case with D2.

PlugY allows that, if I remember correctly.
