We wrote the replies at the same time, so the post above didn't appear until I hit the button.
Here, when this happens, we use the word "ninjad" :P

BTW, are you trying the game on a very old pc maybe?
(on mine the launcher for some games doesn't even start)

Nope, i just built this pc last November and im using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760.
Which Windows version? If Windows 8 or 8.1, it may be problematic to get a refund, as the game is supported only in XP, Vista and 7.

I am unsure if your problems are specifically due to Windows version, or hardware/drivers. Either way, don't be surprised if the guaranteed refund is not granted, if you are trying to run it in an unsupported OS.

Note: Many GOG games work also on OSes not mentioned on the game card, but that list is still relevant because it lists which OSes GOG supports officially for the game.

Well... You can try to ask, but at least I was refused a refund for Haegemonia Gold because I had problems running it in Windows 8, and the game card didn't list Windows 8 nor later as supported Windows versions.

I didn't actually even ask for a refund, but asked whether they have any ideas how to get it to run on Windows 8. The first thing support mentioned was that I am not eligible for a refund, and I was cool with that. I felt they were right, they didn't promise it to work on Windows 8, so I didn't demand it either. Merely hoping to get it to run, regardless.

I think they have later made Haegemonia Gold to work on Windows 8, but W8 is still not listed as a supported Windows version. Either they have forgotten to add it to the gamecard, or they know there are still some issues on some Windows 8.x configurations. Who knows.

I have no idea if your problems with Shogo are due to Windows 8, or if it would fail similarly on that same system with Windows 7. However, I think the point still stands that Windows 8.x is not officially supported for that particular game, unfortunately.

Did the Shogo forum mention any generic Windows 8 issues?

so there are issues with wandows 8
Oh, now I noticed on the Shogo forum that you found a solution after all (with dgvoodoo 2 I think). Good to hear there was a happy ending to this after all.

I'll also need to remember those instructions for future reference. For now I am not using Windows 8.x though, ever since the W8.1 partition became corrupted...
I got the game to finally run normally through the help of Leprask on the shogo forums, I'll report back if the game crashes or something, but thanks for all of your replies and special thanks to Leprask for his solution.
