Hi all,

I've made a small patch that makes the game a bit more playable under Windows 8:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/d1qdedxqq05o8l3/fixolt.zip

This patch removes the border from the window that is always visible in Windows 8. I also tried to fix some other issues, but the old LithTech wasn't very cooperative :-P. It still has the issue with using software emulation for the 16bit mode (or whatever is the reason that it is slow), but at least you can play the game in software rendering mode without the border covering a large part of it.

Installation instructions and the source code is included in the archive.
Hi, gave this a cursory 5 min. test on win 8 x64 for blood2. The boarders are definitely gone. Are you going to keep working on this?

Blood 2 actually had no border for me in Win8.1 even without the patch, which is why i didn't mentioned that in the Blood 2 forum. However i remember some border flickering in Vista and 7 in both Blood 2 and Shogo so this should fix that.

I want to try and see if i can fix the graphics issue, but i fear that it would involve a bit more than simply killing the border. I may try this weekend to see what can be done about that.

I know this post is an older one, but did you ever figure out a fix for shogos lag problem on windows 8?
Why reply to an old post when the solution is posted on the front page?

Use dgVoodoo2. Works perfectly in Windows 8.1.

How exactly would someone who has downloaded dgvoodoo 2 and has no idea how to use it, make it work with shogo?

The best way to fix it is to implement a wrapper for the old version of Direct3D that Shogo is using so that it uses OpenGL or a modern version of Direct3D. I started writing that, but i dropped the project due to limited time. However it sounds like dgVoodoo2 does exactly that. Personally i haven't tried because now i play the game under Linux via Wine where it works fine.

Sir, you have solved a problem that has been plaguing me for the longest time. All I had to do was use your patch and boot up the game a second time and now I'm finally able to play on Windows 8. Kudos sir, with a virtual handshake.

I actually *highly* recommend to download dgVoodoo2, otherwise you'll end up using the software renderer that Windows 8 and later use for old Direct3D games, which is very slow even on high end PCs.
