Hi,

any hardcore comic book experts here who know every comic book in the world?
I´m looking for one that I saw a few years ago, but I don´t know the titel nor the writer/illustrator. I can only describe the cover. It could be an european sci fi shocker.

Any volunteers? :)

If it was 2000AD there's a good chance I may be able to help you, but that is an anthology comic though.

It's a matter of personal taste, of course, but I would have preferred inclusion of works by Clowes, Dash Shaw, Jordan Crane and less repeats from previous bundles.

Clowes is not available in digital. I don't know why, but I guess it must be the author's choice. Chris Ware does not publish in digital either.

Okay, I´ll try to describe it. Maybe someone knows.
Like I said, it could be a sci fi shocker. On the cover you see a jungle scene. There a lots of trees and vegetation. And there is a giant caterpillar. But when you look closer, you see that in fact it is a guy who has been transformed into the caterpillar. You see his face and tentacles are coming out of his mouth. If I remember correctly there is also a second guy in the background, also transformed. I could think that the cover shows astronauts who landed on a foreign planet before something assimilated them. Back then the picture was really shocking for me.
Any ideas?

I don't really have a clue (which is not surprising since I'm only into comics since those Humble Comics Bundles began) but this description DOES sound as if it could be something Lovecraft-related ...

I don't recognise the cover from that description, but it very much sounds like an EC sci fi comic from the 50s, possibly with Wally Wood art. Google "EC sci fi Wally Wood cover", and see if any of them look familiar

Krazy Kat and Peanuts are solid best-of picks, as are Los Bros. Bagge is a legit contender, ditto Hanselmann -- that guy is a comedic genius.

But...apart from Ware and Clowes, if you really did want a proper best-of Fantagraphics, you'd need some R. Crumb (not just a few pages in one issue of Zap), Jim Woodring, Tony Millionaire, some Tardi, Carl Barks' duck books, Gottfriedson's Mickey Mouse, Prince Valiant, Pogo, Barnaby, Nijigahara Holograph, David. B, Barnaby, Schrauwen, Fletcher Hanks, Josh Simmons, Crepax and Swaarte I guess, probably other folks I'm forgetting...it'd be one expensive but absolutely frickin awesome bundle. Fantagraphics are the greatest.

As it is, this is more like Random Collection of Good Fantagraphics Comics, which is good enough for me. I own well more than half of it but am still gonna get it for the books I don't have.

No, sorry. It was a modern comic book maybe from 2000-2010. I´m pretty sure it was an european or south american artist in the vein of Juan Gimenez, LEO or Moebius.

Since watching half of the first "Transformers" movie the entire franchise is eternally burnt for me - and the two mediocre "G.I. Joe" films didn't exactly make me want to read the comics as well. But still, this bundle is so huge I'm almost tempted to pay the full $25 for the highest tier. But probably I'll be wise and just take the $1 tier (which is mostly free from "Transformers") ...

I picked up the Marvel series when it was released. Too bad Marvel isn't into DRM-free. Also I'm not really interested anymore in either franchise, but like you I'll probably go for the $1 tier as that's a lot of comic books and some of them at least are supposed to be decent.

The Transformers vs G.I. Joe is a great bundle. Personally I will not feel bad for spending $25.00 on it. I own a few of the books in hardcover and really like them.

The Bayformers movies are bullshit. These comics are way better, mostly because they actually are about, you know, the Transformers, instead of Shia LaBeouf or Mark Wahlberg doing shenanigans for almost three hours. Just my two cents.

I got the top tier, mostly because of the IDW collections. That's a lot of comics and the entirety of IDW's phase one of their Transformers comics. I own those as tpbs, but I always wanted legal digital backups of those. :)

I absolute believe this, but Michael Bay managed to make me feel sick the moment I hear or read the word "Transformers" so I doubt I could ever bring me to actually read one of the comics. Plus: I'm not really a fan of the concept anyway ...

Man, these comics bundles get really expensive - but in this case I'm actually pretty sure I will indeed read them ...

Edit: I have to correct myself: #0-6 of the 50 issue "Conan" series were already part of a Humble Bundle. But 96 issues for 40 bucks is still a good deal, I think.
