Emob78: TRS-80
64 kb RAM
2 meg hard drive
13" B+W CRT monitor
CPU operation is conducted by a group of 10 highly trained hamsters that run around a wheel in circles fast enough to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity that is required. No heat sink needed. The PSU is a Mr Fusion.

mrking58: Wow you must be ready for the witcher 3
No. The 10 hamsters barely ran Witcher 1. Witcher 3 would require at least 2 more hamsters... maybe 3. The mini tower it's cased in would really cramp those hamsters. They eat a little too much sometimes. Hamsters can get pretty chunky. Wouldn't want to crowd them to death in there. The last thing I want to have to do is pull dead, fat and rotting hamster carcasses out of my computer.

xyem: Which one? I have a bunch of computers!

My primary desktop, Jaguar, is as follows:

MB: ASRock Z68 Extreme4
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1333Mhz (4 * 4GB)
GPU: nVidia Geforce GTX 570
OS: Arch Linux
PAS: 2 * 1TB (RAID1)

NOTE: I accidentally down-rated your post because GOG still don't have alt-text on the images. Grrr. Uprated to counter, sorry.
Anyone you use on a daily basis is fine :)
Have a number of systems.

My main gamer and workstation specs:

MB: Evga X79 Classified
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4930K CPU
RAM: 16GB DDR3 2400Mhz XMP (4 * 4GB)
GPU: nVidia Geforce GTX 780 OC 3GB (Asus DirectCU)
Sound: Asus Xonar D2X
OS: Win 7 Ultimate + Linux Mint
HDD: WD Velociraptor 500GB x2 in raid0, and a 1TB drive for miscellaneous stuff.

All nicely tucked away inside a corsair carbide air 540 case.

Oh, and this may very well be my next purchase if the author completes the project:
A c64 and c65 compatible system with a huge speed boost, better palette, sprites and full HD resolution + remote head = Win! ;)
Desktop
CPU: Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale @ 3.06GHz
GPU: Sapphire HD 7870 GHz Edition OC 2GB GDDR5 @ 1050 MHz
Memory: G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3-1333

Mobo/Case: (HP Pavilion g4-1315dx)
Storage: 500GB HDD
OS: Windows 7 Home & Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Here's what I run (from memory -- details may be off a touch)

CPU:
Core 2 Duo E---- 3.0GHz

RAM:
4GB

GPU:
GTX 650Ti, 1GB

HD:
1TB WD Black
I also have a half gig that's inactive

OS:
Win 7 32bit Home

Sound:
On-Board
I have an old Sound Blaster card/system that had really nice sound, but I ran out of space ages ago with the double-wide GPUs.

(my old GPU was a 8800GT-something (MSI, overclock, out-performed most 8800s by a lot)

Monitor Res:
1440x900

Ultraawesomeness:
I play in a small closet that is dark with 5.1 surround all around it. It's cramped but cozy and the sound is just unbeatable from anything I've ever played.
The GTX 770 I just bought that I mentioned here Here, I exchanged for a 970 instead.

Heretic777: $400 Toshiba laptop from Xmas 2013

APU = AMD A6-5200
GPU = Integrated with APU
Oooh you have a Richland laptop! (3rd gen mobile APU) Mine is a Llano (1st gen).

Those APUs are getting better and better graphically, and I wouldn't mind replacing my laptop with a newer version. But on the other hand... my laptop is so decent with game performance, I don't really have an excuse to upgrade.

Glad to know that people are buying and/or liking those systems.

What are your thoughts about the laptop/performance?

Ya, whats funny is I ordered the 770 on the 18th and the 970/980 released on the 19th. Great timing lol. I didn't know they were releasing a 970/980. I should have researched. first. The 970 was also $100 cheaper.

I am glad I stumbled into this thread. I had been considering 770/780 for a soon-to-purchase GPU. I assume I should throw that out the door with this "game changer"?

If you really want an Nvidia, the Maxwells are incredible value.

Appreciate the input realkman. Building from scratch for the first time ever, so I'm dragging my feet. Seems to have paid off with newtech. :)

I got in with the first ones because I wasn't going to spend more than a 750 Ti anyway, but the higher ones are even better value. It's almost ridiculous.

Im very happy with this laptop. Here are some of the games that i finished on this laptop:

1. Battlefield 4
2. Battlefield 3
3. Max Payne 3
4. Metro 2033
5. Batman Arkham City
6. Dead Space 3
7. Hitman Absolution

Not bad for just the integrated graphics. Im a big fan of AMD APUs.
Well, it seems ive finally just about managed to build one working computer.

I cannibalized my own primary computer and build "Felixtron-2000". Suprisingly "Mr. Almost-6-Years" name is Felix and the original Felixtron-1000 was/is old dual core i bought from out office for 10€.

Well, it couldnt play Trials Fusion, which little brother is working on, so it was the perfect excuse to upgrade the hardware and now after few months of discount searching and what not - ive actually got it almost ready. Missing dustfilters. Also ive got still space for two 2.5" HDD's - but ill probably get those only much much later, when i possibly transform the case into NAS. Also there is space for slim dvd/blueray, but i doubt i will be needing that one.

Specs

Case: Silverstone SG05-lite (black, ITX)
Gpu: Asus R9 270 DirectCU II (non "X")
Cpu: Intel E3-1230v3
Cpu cooler: Cooltek LP53
Thermal paste: Noctua NT-H1 (leftover from NH-U12S in my primary build)
Ram: 8gb, Team Group Vulcan Gold, 1600Mhz
SSD: Crucial MX100 256gb
PSU: Silverstone 600W SFX, Gold, modular
Front fan: Noctua NF-P12 PWM (120x120x25)
OS: Win 8.1 Pro

Temps seem to be 32-35C at idle. Havent actually played anything yet, but during Asus's RealBench stress test (all cores 100%) the temps in cores were between 78-81C.

With any luck ill get to building my new primary comp next week aka "Operation Saving Private Tabletop Space". Ive got everything else, except the new smaller case and gpu.
