Songbringer is coming soon to GOG.com.
A sci-fi action RPG with procedurally-generated worlds and a focus on powerful, long-lost technological devices, secrets, dungeons, bosses, and looking particularly amazing. A recipe for perfection? We think so.

SpiderFighter: Not at all. Text doesn't give me a headache.
If your name is a reference to the game then I'd expect older games to not bother you as much. :)

DoomSooth: This game and others have been dismissed because of how they look. I'll play anything that has good gameplay and replayability. Those are way more important to me. Have you never seen any games with really good graphics that sucked?
Why compromise, when there are plenty of games which offer well designed visuals and good gameplay?
I judge games by how fun they are. That's all. If it also looks good then that's a bonus. One of my favorite games is Wizard's Crown. The graphics are awful, even for 1985, but it's a damned good game.
Oh, I really hope developer improve the graphic, just a bit. This sounds awesome.
The pseudo pixel art style propagated by companies like Devolver Digital and the term "procedurally generated" are enough to put me off this one. Perhaps in a sale.

When I say "pseudo pixel art", what I mean is so-called pixel art that is unwilling to adhere to the conventions of the style: consistently low resolution, limited, fixed and saturated palette, limited or no scaling and alpha effects, use of certain features such as true-to-resolution pixelation when scaling, colour cycling etc.

There are so many "pixel art" indie games out there, but many of them do this simply because they don't have the in-house artistic capacity to do anything else. What many of them fail to realise is that pixel art is itself an artform that requires competence. So few games get it right: Shovel Knight, Oniken, Mercenary Kings, Odallus: The Dark Call, Axiom Verge, Owlboy, 2046 Read Only Memories...

DoomSooth: This game looks like it could be pretty good. Not sure why the graphics are a problem for some people. A lot of great games (mostly arcade) with much lower resolutions have been made. Graphics never beat good gameplay. There have been a lot of really good text adventures, also. I suppose something like that would just be met with "tl;dr" or "OMFG! WALL OF TEXT!"

CharlesGrey: Those games weren't made in 2017, though. Their visual quality and style was primarily caused by technical limitations at the time, not because the designers wanted their games to look like that. More importantly though, those arcade games always had very crisp, clear graphics, which were easy to interpret. This game, on the other hand, doesn't just have very low-res graphics, they're also buried beneath several layers of modern effects. This makes for an inconsistent style, and also makes it harder to read the graphics.
Actually, there's a pretty thriving Interactive Fiction scene. Text adventures never died; they got more sophisticated. ;)

Good gameplay is good gameplay. As I've gotten older though, these chunky pixels hurt my eyes and head. Let's Play videos help.
I have lots of good memories of those games with chunky pixels. :P

Indeed! Some of my all-time favorite games are chunky. :)

yogsloth: Shitty, low-effort pixel "retro" graphics. Check.
Low-effort? Gonna have to disagree.

This looks pretty well-done to me, though I'll admit I do wish it was slightly less pixelated.

Sorry guys. I'm probably the reason we get all these retro style pixel games. I buy a lot of them. I'm gonna buy this one too.
I did assume someone must get getting them... enjoy!

Anything that helps support the art of gaming (especially Indie) is fine by me!

Similarly, I favor indies. I want my eyes back however(tm) - I'm about to support the game if there's an option to remove flashing, trembling, etc. stuff causing eye strain.
