Hey GOG,

You're my favorite game store, with a great selection of games, affordable prices, good policies, helpful staff members and a better than most community...but what is going on with you lately, man? Are you doing okay?

You've got a spammer running wild, opposed only by the community, and many members have been having trouble with the website for almost two weeks now, with very little in the way of official support or even acknowledgement (I myself haven't heard back from support after having sent a ticket).

I get that the Lucas Arts debuts have been massive and draining, both for GOG the company and for the site itself, and that you're working hard on the Galaxy. Trust me, I get it, you're still a relatively small group of folks stretched out thin to cover the manpower needed to operate the site, and you're building for the future...I understand that.

However...could you not put the Galaxy, the streams etc aside for a few days and work on fixing the site? As one of many members here who has run forums in the past, I really don't mind saying that it's not THAT hard to fix spam issues, even if you're just looking for a stopgap/temp solution, and the account issues lasting this long is rather worrying.

GOG I'm not asking for the site to be fixed within five minutes of posting this, but an official thread by a staff member acknowledging and addressing these issues would be a great step in the right direction.

I've included three threads below that deal with the issues I mentioned, there are several more if you take a few minutes to run a search.

"It's currently not on top of our priority list"
They should just hire me as community manager/ moderater since I don't have a job right now. I would fix this site in a jiffy ;) ;)

No matter what community you are in, their will always be spammers and trolls. Remember Maple Story, before all the hackers! Hackers, spammers, and trolls ruin websites!

I think you're misjudging the situation here. This isn't your typical couple a-holes in any community that troll and spam a few threads, this is a full-on onslaught by some spambots that, if it extends beyond the subforums, could become a de facto DoS attack on this forum. The sad part is that this should be pretty easy to deal with.

Proof that this community is avobe average, is that we're not raging or griefing or threatening... but we're begging, and hoping, and waiting, and doing what we can to keep this place clean.

So... where's the love, GOG?
Personally, i don't mind the problems. OK, there are many problems that hinder the joy of using the forum etc. but look at the bright side: We have so many new releases, Lucasfilm games, we have promos going on and contests too, we will have Galaxy. That's why i don't mind the little problems.

Don't look at the tree, look at the forest!

As long as GOG stays true to it's principles, it is good for me. And the problems will eventually get sorted out. :-)

Try to be active in the effected forums, and then come back and say that. Look further afield than yourself.

Galaxy is what I mind the most.
Maybe soon all the files outside of Galaxy will have names like "product_bonus_4716", new offline updates won't be available anymore, worst case would be backdoor DRM, etc...

Some things are pointing in unpleasant directions.

I would recommend a movement. Perhaps every last one of us could make a new post that says (@#)$(&@#&@#)(#@BAMWARCOM(*&@#098&@#42. After they get 10,000 new posts of this crap, they can apply the simple filter.

Since all the spam posts are literally shit I will agree to calling it a "movement" ;-)

I seriously hope it does not come down to us having to take that extreme of a measure though.
