l0rdtr3k: yes,I like U9
There's nothing wrong with that. I like reading reviews that disagree with the majority opinion on a game, so I hope you write one.

Everyone seems to love Freespace 2, but I didn't like it so I wrote a review explaining why.

l0rdtr3k: I assume some of you said that when you read the reviews of a game that you really like and it turns out that most of them are negative.
Quite the opposite: there are many games I dislike or found mediocre at best are praised with 5 stars ;(
But I know the feeling when your favorite games gets *unfair* criticism or lack of love. Nobody like Kyrandia like I do ;)

darthspudius: Resident Evil 6 and Castlevania Lord of Shadows comes under this for me. Bad reputation but are well built, great looking games.

park_84: I didn't recall LoS being smashed by the media and, since it was developed by a Spanish studio, I was wondering if my perception was influenced by a Spanish media being overly biased towards the game. This doesn't seem the case though, or at least I can't relate bad reputation to a Metacritic score of 80-85 for both critic and user reviews. On the other hand, the average Metacritic score for RE6 drops down to 70-75 for the critic reviews and just 50-55 for those of the users.
I suppose with Castlevania it is more about it's reputation. I mean the series fans shunned it despite the fact it's probably the best game in the series for nearly 20 yrs (atleast I thought so).

Ah that is not hard to do though. I mean Halo, Call of Duty and so on. Decent games but not exactly the great experiences they're claiming to be.

l0rdtr3k: Bloodrayne 2 is freaking awesome.
Agreed. I absolutely do not understand its mediocre reception. It's a very good slasher game with a cool style and setting. I enjoyed it basically as much as the Prince of Persia trilogy and its certainly much better than the first game, at least gameplay-wise.

Come on,it's crazy awesome with a great main character that kicks so much ass.

darthspudius: I have never played them, always been tempted to buy them.

I still remember sliding down the bannister, lovely game!

l0rdtr3k: Is Sacred 1 good? I remember loving the second one on my 360 but I always wanted to try out the original.
It's great but there is an ugly FPS bug if you use a range oriented character. For some reason it gets really choppy if you zoom out. If you are melee oriented like a Dark Elf or Gladiator you probably won't even notice this.

l0rdtr3k:
Duke Nukem Forever. 12 years of hype and vapourware and the game finally comes out and gets totally murdered in the press/reviews/blogs/forums for all sorts of reasons but mostly because people were pissy it took 12 years to make a game.

I finally got a copy of the game and played it for many hours and thought it was pretty funny and totally lived up to the Duke Nukem name. I hope they make a sequel if they can sort out any legal issues.

This is first time I heard of anyone like DNF. To each his own indeed sir.

legopig: Game of Thrones RPG. Every moans about it and says it is terrible. I found the combat fine (at least as good as Dragon Age Origin) and the story is the best RPG story I have ever played in my life (probably because it was written by GRR Martin himself).
avatar
l0rdtr3k: I agree with you. An awesome game that deserves better praise.
Yep, 3rd-ed, I DO think the combat is a little wonky but refreshingly different at least but it's not just the story that makes up for it, there's other mechanics that are good too - Mor's Dog and the Puzzle for instance...
I could barely put it down from start to finish to the finish of the 'Beyond the walls' DLC

Telika: I know feel ready to officialize the fact that I like so-called "walking simulators" in general.

l0rdtr3k: Like what,Gone Home?
Yes. As a prejudice. I haven't played it, but I expect to like it just because it belongs to that genre (if it's a genre).

But, for instance, I am coming to terms with the fact that, deep down, I adored "Ether One".

Generally, all the descriptions of "walking simulators" ("you just stroll aimlessly through a given 3D-recreated environment, and occasionally find bits of stuff") tend to enthousiasm me. And actually, I may have spent a lot of time playing "Morrowind" as a walking simulator (what I used to call my 'tourist' approach to "Morrowind").
