Time4Tea: LOL! There must have been some delay with the site. It didn't seem to be posting, so I retried a couple of times. Looks like I made my point anyway. Ha ha.

I didn't bring up anything regarding micro-transactrions. I was only joking in my original post.

That was precisely my point. In-game MTX would obviously require an online user account to play the game, which would seem to be incompatible with a DRM-free philosophy.

amok: 1) this is clearly not the point here. we are not talking about a small company, nor about physical releases. which is why I put 'in the digital age' in my post
Sorry, I like to ramble/muse on various asides that sometime relate somewhat to what is being talked about and etc.

In this case I was talking about one exception in preordering in general where people might want to preorder vs buying on day 1.

amok: if you want to support a game company, then you buy the games, support crowdfunding or just give them your money.
All good ideas.

Oh forgot from before: One reason some preorder is that in some cases they get the game(disc or game itself) a day or so earlier than everyone else.

(of course whether that is worth it is up to the individual)

rjbuffchix: Totally hear you, man. If it reassures any, their community manager person I referenced in another post now seems to have debunked this on Twitter. I'm sorry I can't find the link at the moment.
Well hopefully more info will come about before release, and hopefully it will be good news. *fingers crossed*

rjbuffchix: Similarly, even though the mtx rumor was seemingly debunked, who's to say there won't be over a dozen small DLCs? They technicallllllly wouldn't be mtx...even though the effect is very similar.
Yeah, games keep getting cut into more and more parts....and due to that, it can lead to some unwanted(customer end) negative effects.

As one example, it is harder to archive console games's extra content that one has bought. In a good number of cases the content is tied to the system and user account on it, making it hard to backup if one wants to do so.

(and as such I worry about said content maybe being lost to the sands of time due to such practices)

rjbuffchix: It'd be nice if we could get "non-corporate speak" about what is actually going on with this game.
This would be nice.

darthspudius: Considering how bad a game the original is, I'm impressed that there are so many fans willingly to mindlessly pre-order this one. The great writing is about the only good thing about it. It was a straight up bad game.
This is actually what I recall from back in the day of over two decades ago; the game was fulla jank but the writing was good, so 8/10.

Though, given the only thing I ever remember about the game is the cover with Ms. Tramp stamp, I dunno if that's really the best thing; if the writing is good but the game is ass, why not just read a plot synopsis or book?

Totally agree!! That type of practice makes me cringe, because I value game preservation. I think that's part of the main concern with this Vampire news too, on a smaller scale...fans want to be reassured that Brian Mitsoda's contributions to the game were not scrapped like Chris Avellone's were. We want the things we were sold on, to be preserved. I know that Mitsoda contributed more than Avellone and it's unlikely the game is totally rewritten or anything like that. But it's hard as a fan to put much trust in a company that is only using "corporate speak" and making such a big decision.
